I've been reading about all the different types Ariel and that the liquids,gels and liquitabs don't contain bleaching agents compared to the powders,
I bought a big box of Ariel Biological from Sainsbury's today on special offer 72 wash pack for £10,

i usually use Ariel gel,both bio and colour,but decided to purchase the big box to save some money,also the big box will last me a couple of months.

Once i run out of Ariel colour gel, i was planning to use the biological powder for all my washing,but i'm a little concerned that the powder might make my coloured items fade a lot.

So is there any tips i should follow or just play safe and carry on using Ariel colour?

Generally Speaking

Coloured laundry should be washed in a detergent without bleaches and or bluing agents to keep them from fading. That being said a one off wash now and then with a normal detergent and or perhaps adding oxygen bleach to shift stains and or brighten things up a bit shouldn't hurt. This is more true if one keeps wash water temps at or <100F.

Being as that may there are colours and there are colours.

Bright and or pastels such as pinks, pale blues etc normally are fine with bleach/OBA detergents. However darker blues,pinks, reds, purples, etc are another story and should be washed in detergents designed to protect colours from fading.

Speaking from experience, I use powder 70% of the times as it definitely cleans better than any liquids I tried so far. It indeed fades dark garments but if you wash at 40°C like I do or less, you'll grow tired of that garment before the fading will affect its style in any appreciable manner.
Besides deep dark blue and black (not denim) the other colours don't seem so affected by the powder, so I don't bother. I use liquids for very delicate fabrics like cotton/silk and cotton/wool or synthetics blends. Real wool and silk are sent out to the dry cleaners.
The only thing I don't like are optical brighteners that make some dark garments "shine" when I go dancing but if I plan on using a certain shirt or else at the club, I simply had wash it with the liquid or re run the rinse cycle. Otherwise I didn't ever notice any real difference.

I generally use liquid or liquid capsules for washing dark colours, particularly jeans.
I find any normal powder will tend to fade jeans quite rapidly, and I don't like using some of the colour powders as they tend to contain a lot of cellulase to prevent bobbling. This can sometimes weaken denim prematurely.
Incidentally, the most aggressive fabric-eater i've ever used was Ariel Excel Gel. My favourite t-shirts started to develop holes!

In general, I do towels, bed linen etc with a regular biological powder detergent like Persil or Ariel and everything else with something like Persil liquid capsules, which I find pretty excellent.

I don't like the smell of Ariel Liquid, which is why I generally avoid it and I will not use Excel Gel ever again.

I had exactly the same problem with Excel Gel. Hubby had bamboo underwear and Excel Gel totally disintegrated them.

Formil Biological powder

I'm not keen on Ariel Bio powder as i hate the smell of it, its too overpowering and i cant bear to be in the same room as a load washed in Ariel

I'm using Formil Biological (Lidl) for all washes, and it seems to be great!! I get spotless whites, and colours and darks dont seem to fade either.

I use a delicate wash liquid for my woolen/delicate washes =]

i've washed in Ariel Gel for a good while now and i've never had a problem with holes in my clothes,my work uniforms were washed every other day plus my fella's work shirts and trousers,

And as for my whites,maybe i'll start to notice a difference with the powder for brightness,i'll be using it from tomorrow,and i really like the smell of the Ariel powder
