hey all, i just ordered some ariel powder from mexico, mexgrocer.com, they also had foca powder which i heard alot of people from here like alot, i cannot wait to try it, i heard the scent is good too, i also ordered a small bottle of downy, it is probably the same as here in the usa but the bottle is simmilar to downy from the 80s, i am going to try the ariel because it contains phosphates. speaking of phosphates.. i always used cascade powder which ALWAYS worked, sometimes the gel, the gel even used to always work for me, however, just recently i bought a big bottle of cascade gel lemon scent. the past 6 or so loads i noticed food still on all of my dishes, i thought maybe my maytag jetclean quietpower3 had a clogged filter, but i noticed on the back of the bottle there are NO phosphates in dish detergent anymore, the powder i had 3 weeks ago had phosphates. looks like i have to buy that from mexico too. all i want is CLEAN clothes and CLEAN dishes, is that too much to ask ?? i really do not want to mess with adding stp and all of that to dishes and clothes everytime.

Hi Toploader!

A friend in San Diego gave me a small bag of Ariel to try and I like it! It has a nice, albiet strong fragrence, but then I think a lot of the mexican detergents have a pretty strong scent.

Just a word of warning though, Ariel makes A LOT of sudz! (Maybe it's more for me because I have soft water??)

I also have FOCA, ROMA and a couple others I have yet to try. Fortunately there are a number of Mexican markets around here, so it's easy to find the stuff.

thanks for the comment kevin, i cannot wait to try it, i heard it does fantastic on whites in just one wash. i was reading some posts on google about downy fabric softener from mexico and read a couple of them from people saying that downy from mexico in much different from here more like original downy from the 60s and 70s, which mekes me more excited!!! i used to LOVE downy back in the 80s when i was young. i remember back in the 80s when downy had a scent called sun fresh i think, was in a yellow bottle, omg it smelled SOOOOO good!! anybody remember it?

Roma

Hey, Kevin!

I use Roma all the time, I like it as well as Sears detergent and it's quite reasonable. Of course, Oxydol is my all-time favorite. I've not seen Foca powder around here; I have tried the liquid and it makes a great pre-treatment. Both Roma and Foca give me lotzosudz; particulary in the wringers. Isn't that part of the fun, though? LOL

Downy from Mexico I find in Dollar stores all over....

Foca, Ariel, and Roma can be found at ShopRite and Kmart which may be available online, could be cheaper for you that way...

Oxydol, I love, but from Dollar Tree is really watered down and a lighter scent than from a grocery store, but you get what you pay for as well as if thats the only way you can get it, take it at that option...

I'm wondering if the Mexican Ariel Oxyanillos is the same Ariel Oxyaneis we have here in Brazil.

Ariel Oxyaneis is very sudsy, but the result is always excellent and I love the cute red rings mixed with the blue powder.

Here we also have Ariel Ecomax, that technically can be considered as a HE detergent.

What are the other mexican versions of Ariel?

I have had Ariel with...
Downy
Xianillos
and Oxy
I think the x is the best so far, does well in my front loaders.
Ariel powder makes the water slightly blue when washing.
Kevin i did not no that you had soft water that is why your sudsing up Right ?
I have used Roma ...it is good in toploaders but high on suds in the fronts.
Overall i like Ariel.
For inexpensive detergent.

Hi Darren, Yes I'm sure I get a lot more suds due to the soft water.

I installed one (myself) in the house about 5 years ago I think. The house I grew up in had a water softener so I'm just used to it. Plus before installing it, I noticed hard water deposits slowly building up on things, inside my FL washer tub.

I just picked up some FOCA before Christmas, and I noticed that what I bought contains enzymes, and no phosphates at all.

I was wondering.....

I always see like the ZOTE and other brand laundry soap bars at the store and have been curious to try it. But how do you use it? Do you like shave some off in the machine? Or is it only for handwashing and pre-treating? Anyone use it?

If you shred it finely enough, it will work, but usually ZOTE is a rather damp, soft bar and the shreds don't dissolve all that well in the washing machine. Again, remember that it's used for hand washing in Mexico. I've collected bar laundry soap from many areas of the world...it's pretty universal in places other than US, Canada (although they have Sunlight soap there) and in Northern Europe.
