I'm not much into new machines but found a set of Askos so I thought I would ask if anyone had an opinion about them either way. The guy is asking $500 for the set. Model numbers are ASKO W660 QUATTRO 2 DOOR and the matching ASKO T760 BUTTERFLY dryer. Thanks

People either love Asko laundry appliances, or hate them.

Recent offerings sold in USA seem not to have the build quality of say Miele

While Miele washers and dryers normally go ten years or longer (depending upon factors) before repairs are required. Asko units OTOH need anything from motors, belts, shocks etc.... before that time.

When originally introduced to USA Asko units were still made in Sweden. The company has been sold once or twice since then and that seems to be where many of the problems started. ASKO-USA was once in Texas (again, IIRC) and people either loved dealing with them, or .....

You can find Asko laundry appliances from older to even new models plentiful on CL, fleaPay and the other usual sources, far more so than Miele. That tends to tell me at least something.

If the washer and dryer in question are 220v then the washer will have a funky plug that will only mate to the outlet on dryer. This like Miele was a way to get out of having to install two outlets as you only need an outlet for the one. However it also means unless the plug is changed on washer you *need* that dryer.

Asko washer plug

The plug on my current-model Asko was a standard NEMA 6-20P. Someone on gardenweb posted a picture of their older Asko's plug and it was the same thing. Don't need an Asko dryer to plug it into, just a NEMA 6-20R outlet.

24" condenser

I have a 2010 Asco condenser dryer-works great, quite effective, and holds a big load for it's size-takes a full load from from a filter flo, marathon SQ,DC maytag,no problem.Condenser matrix needs cleaned every 8-10 loads, or performance drops waay off...Dryer,with two blowers running at ~3400 RPM,is a little louder than some big American dryers, but not real bad.Door latch is just a strong magnet-will not wear out :)
