That's an unusual one.  Looks like the same shade of band-aid pink as my sister's huge '61 bottom freezer "Space Master" Coldspot.

That's the refer I grew up with! Ours opened the other way. the interior was PINK and had copper colored shelves with pink door shelves. the freezer had a narrow shelf for ice cube trays and aa large roll-out basket. We moved that refer from Seattle to Tacoma to Cocoa Beach, FL and back to Tacoma. In the lst two locations it opend the wrong way for the kitchen. You were always walking around the door! It finallly went to reside at the family beach house in about 1979 or 80 and when I remodeled that cabin in 1992 or so, I gave it to a friend who is still using it. 1957! WOW!

Greg, your story confirms what everybody here already knows:  They don't make 'em like they used to!

I'm going to guess that the wording above the badge at top right reads "Frost Free."  Yes?

I'm so glad to hear your friend is still enjoying the fridge from your childhood!  May it cool for many more years to come!

Indeed, it's a Super Mart! The funniest story I have about an appliance is about that fridge. When we moved from Seattle to Tacoma in 1965, we took the fridge with us. The moving van had left the house about 15-20 minutes ago. I was wondering through the house saying goodby and funny, why was the fridge still there? I thought it was going with us. I asked my Dad about it, he took one look at the fridge, raced out to his Mustang and took off toward the freeway. He caught-up with the van, made them turn around and come back and get the fridge. They left the loading platform down and strapped that fridge to it and we all drove south to Tacoma following the van im our 1964 Chevy Caprice wagon. We didn't want to loose the Coldspot! I was in 5th grade. Gee, the memories...LOL!

Hmmmm.  The same number of letters in each word threw me.  I didn't realize Sears used the "Super Mart" designation that early, but '57 did seem a bit soon for frost free.

if your Chevy Wagon was a 1964 it was an Impala, Bel Air or Biscayne. The first Caprice was offered in 1965 as a trim option for the Impala 4 door hardtop and was then made a full fledged series in it's own right for 1966...PAT COFFEY

Hans if my memory serves me correctly

Whirlpool bought the Seeger Refrigeration Company in 1955 and there after was known briefly as Whirlpool-Seeger Corp. I am pretty sure I remember seeing thatin some ads in old Better Homes & Gardens I had from 1955....PAT COFFEY

Pat! You're right . It was an Impala with the third rear facing seat. Matt Finnigan and I were sitting in it one afternoon on 6th Avenue in Tacoma when we were rear-ended. Car was considered totaled and the Caprice was it's replacement. My Mother drove it until 1978 when it was replaced with a Lincoln that barely fit in the garage. You had to open both garage doors and walk around the middle post to the other bay. It made my Dad's life irritaing. Every morning and night...! Of course Mother had to be closest to the inner door! I can still parallel park that tank of a Lincoln.
