It all starts with limes. Don't worry if they're ugly -- that makes them easier to squeeze. Easy to squeeze is good.

Get your citrus juicer ready. Note: it helps if you have a citrus juicer that fits just right onto your cocktail shaker.

Add rum. One large measure per lime is nice. I was taking the pictures with the self-timer, so the rum bottle is not shown.

Add LOTS of ice, and shake the bajeepers out of it. As the Savoy Cocktail Book says, you want to wake it up, not rock it to sleep.

Enjoy your Daquiri.

NOTE: Dogs and Deck are a serving suggestion, and will not enhance the scurvy-preventing effects.

I'm guessing you get enough Vitamin C without resorting to spiritous beverages. Of course, the politics down there might drive one to drink . . .

Don't worry -- There's something for everyone here.

The slim, yellow book shown in the pictures is a book of non-alcoholic summer coolers. My roommate is among the people who realized (the hard way) that they're better off not drinking any more.

Limes and gin? Sorry, but the only way I enjoy gin is with grapefruit juice (salty dog). Mmmm. Salty dogs.

Try this drink with Cachaca. It'll give it a margarita type of kick to it.

Several years ago, a co worker invited us to his house for a barbarque. He has a Brazilian wife. Think of a young Charro. She was one of the most delightful people I have ever met. She turned us on to Cachaca. One of the smoothest drinks I've ever had. But after two or three of them, be ready for dancing on the tables!

Cachaca can be substituted for Rum in almost any rum based drink. We find the best brand is "Ypioca" in a straw wrapped bottle.
