Saw this on the CNN site. She left the gift to New York's Ali Forney Center, an organization supporting homeless LGBT youth. She had also done a benefit performance of her one woman show for the center in 2005, raising more than $40,000 and contributing another sizeable personal donation. What a mentsh. May she be remembered for a blessing among the righteous.

What a class act she was!!

I miss her humor and spirit every time I see her on the screen. She was a true friend to the gay community

Maude was relevant in the 1970's, and she would still be so today, in most respects. Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord.

I just love Bea!

Hard to believe she is gone!

I hope she is having fun!

Great Post! Sounds just like her!

Well said Polkanut, Maude tackled abortion, single parenting, homosexuality, racism and many other topics, that caused her to be on After the 10pm news in the midwest, I think that speaks volumes. Very strange we are still debating the same old stuff almost 40 years later. Ms. Arthur, we miss you! alr2903

I couldn't resist!! Bless you Beau, you were and will always be a true lady. Thank you, "First Lady of the American Theatre!"
