My friend Brandon is selling his 1956 Kenmore set. The 1956 washer was the very first year of the redesigned cabinet style with the side opening lid and new style pump. This design was used essentially for the next 30 years on belt-drive Kenmore and Whirlpool washers.

I highly recommend Brandon as a seller, he is an outstanding guy. You can contact him if interested at [email protected][this post was last edited: 11/29/2016-15:50]

I second this.

I have seen in person the set here in question. I looked over the machines pretty well and both seem to be very well loved machines that were being used up until he found them... I actually gasped a bit when I saw them the first time, and looked them over for him for possible use. I could actually surmise with a bit of precheck, that BOTH of these could be hooked up and used if wanted. I really hope that these can find a wonderful forever home.

What a beautiful set.  I found the same '56 gas dryer a few years ago along the side of the road and the console now is used as a nice night light in my living room.  I have a spare burner in case anyone needs one.

What I like about the '56 consoles is the use of seven, 7 watt bulbs, over the short florescent bulb in the '57 models.

If I didn't already have the '59 Lady K set, this would be the one to go with.

TOL 56 Kenmore Pair

These machines could turn out washed and dried clothing every hour and were cheap to run to boot. No other washer and dryer pair up to this point could beat the great performance speed and economy of operation of this pair.

The dryer is Gas, with electric ignition with a super fast 37,000 BTU burner, this along with the Suds-Saver washer equals fast turnaround and economy of operation.

More Baby Boomers had their diapers and clothing washed and dried in a Whirlpool built pair than any other brand of W&D by a country mile.
