Hello!
Right, as most will know, the Hotpoint Aqualtis we had (first generation,C.2006) was replaced in summer 2012 with a Miele, so I had the aqualtis.
On a routine 90*c wash, the machine began to make a horrendous noise when it was spinning, I did another wash but not only did it sound excruciatingly loud, but I could smell an electrical smell, when the wash had finished the drum had some play and the drum sounded a bit on the rough side. So, off to look at new washers, Beko was on the middle of my list as I wanted to try another Beko but my last one was very bitter sweet with mixed performance, eventually I decided on the Beko WMB81241LW which had brilliant customer reviews and was on offer!
The machine was delivered last Friday and I am absolutely astounded by how bad my last Beko was! this new one gets clothes really really clean and doesn't damage them!
Very satisfied! and it has a special AquaWave drum to prevent snagging, pretty nifty!

That sounds good, Beko machines used to be some "hm-hm sort-of" type of brand to me until I learned that they are said to have drastically improved. Now you have this new Beko and that strange new drum hole pattern (just as so many manufacturers now come up with their own "knitting patterns" of what is best for us).
Miele has had this honeycomb thingy, now there are diamonds, teardrops, hearts, bubbles, dips and all sort of shapes.

Can you find any difference to normal drum walls?

Returning to topics: The Beko you show us, I have seen it spinning at some friend's place. Amazingly well balanced, I had been expecting it to sound somewhat more "plasticlike" and rattling. Nope! Just a hum. I was impressed how that brand has made a move.

Well Joe, I have a feeling the drum in my last beko (normal hole drum) was the cause of it damaging washing. The wash I have been using the most is the Daily Quick cycle, I can get my wash of PJ's and underwear done in 57 minutes and the results are very good. My last beko was also very plasticky feeling and didn't look too appealing compared to the newer models, the display on this one is easier to see from an angle which is good, its lovely and quiet as well.
I will get some pics later on when I do a wash tomorrow.

Beko quality has improved dramatically since they bought Blomberg in 2002. Starting with their more expensive machines and gradually progressing down the range.

 

I personally think the mid and higher end are not only good quality machines from a build perspective, they also wash well and have a solid range of programme options.

I have the same machine and it's been great. I was the same as older Beko washers had a bad rep. Mine doesn't have that drum but it's been faultless over the past two years with some days being on constant for 12 hours

Yea, this one is very impressive! considering my last beko was a TOL model, it wasn't brilliant.

Just reading this as mine is about to go on spin lol. It's faultless it just does it no problems right up to 1400rpm. I had a hotpoint before which was really fussy and took ages. Needless to say after 10 months and still under warranty it was given away as I hated it.
Nearly everyone I know has the same machine as me now cos they have seen how good it is. I've deffo boosted sales in the northwest of Liverpool lol

Oh one quick thing. If you use the daily wash I always do an extra spin as it only does a short spin on that programme even though it will do the 1400 it's not as long

It depends tbh, the mixed fabrics wash has timed levels which touch the seal and then the cotton and daily quick rinses are deep.

I use the 20 degree wash for small loads but I press pause button after a few seconds and I have a pipe from the tap and I fill the machine with hot water. In fact I do that a lot with most programmes

I use daily quick for most things, except for towels, they go in on cottons 90 or 70*c

I've put my money where my mouth it

So after 8 years and a lot of washing we've had to buy a new machine. The poor Westinghouse/Zanussi/Electrolux has finally had enough and the motor died. Have tried in vain to get carbon brushes easily (note the 'easily') here, but can't and a new motor was $352. One of the suspension struts is on it's way out again too.

 

Still, can't complain. She's physically  8 years old, but with 3 years of that doing 20 loads a week (9 years work), she's really about 14 years old mechanically.

 

So we've gone and bought a Beko WMB651441L. Delivery on Thursday.

 

Can't wait. First new major appliance in 8 years.
