Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Nice array of older machines here. I see we have two variations of the Match All dryer, one which we have seen before, with the sloped console that integrates with the surface area. Circa 1968 apparently, and one I have never seen in person. The second is also from 1968-1969, and one I have not seen shown on the site, but have seen in quite a few homes. Two of these belonged to relatives, and one belonged to my best friend growing up. There is a partial hood that conceals the controls. When I first saw my friend's dryer at the age of five the hood was over the controls, and I wondered how the heck they operated it without buttons or knobs. I remembered being relieved when I figured out that it was a hood.

Have a good one,
James

Ge dishwasher

HI I was wondering if anyone could give me some more information the GE dishwasher. Year? Money shot? how did they perform

That GE dryer I had one very similar.  It didn't have the foot pedal.  It had the wide plastic handle.  I remember there was a small red light in the recessed black strip at the very bottom of the console.  I don't remember what it did though.  It was a gas dryer at in 1982, when I was 15, I didn't know how to plumb gas yet.  So I removed the gas igniter and put an "L" shaped forced air heater, from a KitchenAid dishwasher, in its place (with the elbow cut off).  It was my attempt at converting a gas dryer to 110.  It took like 2 hours to dry.  (giggle)

The GE DW is cool.  I found just that console from that mid 70s DW on the curb once.  It weighed as much as an entire NEW dishwasher does today.   Those consoles were all metal.
