I've had this machine for awhile, but never hooked it up. The pump does drip from the weep hole and it doesn't collapse the tub. The second time I used it outside, the tub did collapse but hasn't since. I've done 3 or 4 loads in it. It agitates well and drains the water pretty fast, but doesn't collapse the tub. The only leak is from the pump; I don't think the tub is leaking. Maybe the pump? Also the timer does not advance....no big deal. HELP!!!

It could be that the lid dome is not seating properly against the rubber tub, this has happened with my Economat before. What I would do to test this is to wet the outside of the dome and hold the lid down during drain to see if it seals and starts to evacuate the air.

Several of my friends were needed to sit on the lid of their mom's Economat to make it seal when the lid springs started to loose their tension or something. The springs had to hold the heavy lid up when open as well as hold it down in the closed position. As the washers aged, they did not do either very well. Fortunately, that is about the time the seal allowed water to enter the tranny which started oil leaking onto the floor and it was bye-bye Bendix.

As long as yours is pumping water out, it should also pump out air for extracting.

Hi Jon,

I'm not sure....I think it needs a pump. I tried what Robert suggested about wetting the dome so it makes a better seal, but the tub won't collapse. I even put a cement block on the cover for weight, but no go. It has great agitation, but no squeeze dry.

Non Sucking bendix Rubber Tub Washer

Hi John, take the pump apart and see if the rubber diafram is still completely in tack, this is a major problem with these washers as they age. This machine uses the same pump as the 1957-8 WP built 33" combos and they often have the same pump problem.
