I am in the market for a new energy efficient washer under $1200. So far, I have narrowed it down to the Frigidaire Affinity 6000 or 7000 or the new Whirlpool Duet. I am also worried about mold and so I like the Staber too but have heard of reliability problems and no service network. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks. Suds.

On Staber

I have tried 2 of them here and they do a very good job of washing and extract well. However there were problems with them from the 3 rd week . Motor burned up on one in less than 3 mo. timer in 4 mo. constant problems with drain pumps. We junked both machines after less than a year ...We have had very good results with the Frigidare 2 of them also ... We also had a Duet but many problems with computer boards and they were assholes to deal with too.. We sold the machine for $50.00 to a repair man to use for parts after 6 mo. Hope this helps you Sudsman

Energy Efficient Washers.

Thanks Sudsman. I thought the Staber sounded too good to be true. I have alwys liked Frigidaire. SudsMcKenzie.

Frigidaire/ Sears

Sears has some of the Kenmore models that are almost the same as the Frigidare machines and sometimes , in this area has very good sales on them. We are going to buy 3 more smaller machines in the next 3 or 4 mo. but not sure just yet what we will purchase .. I am looking at the Cabrio . We also have 2 L G Tromm they do a good job all the way around but just dont go about their business the way I like. I am from the old school ... Sudsman

Frigidaire 3.5 washer/dryer at REX

Here is the best price I have seen on the 3.5 cu ft Frigidaire front load along with the dryer.

We have the Kenmore but I thnk they are all discontinued and the HE2 has replaces. Great machine we just use a dry cloth to get the water out of the boot have had a year and a half no mold or musty smells. Great machine and has gone OOB only once with a single bath rug.

if you get a lot of stains dont buy the Frigidaire

if you are like me. you get bad skidders in your underpants. after a few hot links and some crown it is inevitable. i bought the Frigidaire Affinity 6000 and found that it had difficulty with rich tracks high in animal protien found in my drawers. i was concerned that this was because the fecal materials bonded with the scrumunge on the washer door gasket resulting in an extreme fecal build up. This combined with mold spores could pose a health hazard.

From my point of view are the mieles and the bosch nexxt washers the best energy efficient washers. Both good en reliable and gentle on clothes. They are both available here in europe and they are realy good to my experience witch have high standards :). So pay the price but buy quality!!

We have had no problems with our Frigidaire

We have used both Frididaire and L G Tromm on (Nursing home type linen) and have had no problems what ever with any of them . The "dairs" are over 2 years old now and been very good . The LG do a good job 2 I just dont like the way they do it. But thats just me , not the machines fault. Sudsman

Washinherman

perhaps some of the old fashion things could help you... You never know how good some lye soap and a cork can work when put in the right place... I am not amused

Duet

I'm extremely happy with my Duet HT. The regular Duet (without heater, fewer cycles) holds just as much laundry and usually comes in at under $1,000. (The HT is about 1300 or so). I've heard that LG's are good, but parts and service is a real problem. Sudsman had a bad experience with Duet, but I've not heard of this problem from anyone else; mine has operated flawlessly. Note to all who have washers or dryers with circuit boards-If you live in an area plagued with lighning storms, it's a good idea to unplug them when you go away. I suspect that lightning strikes account for more than a few unexplained circuit board failures!

best washer

I have the Frigidaire Gallery FL for two years now and never had a mold or oder problem because I never close the door.I always leave it ajar in between uses. I have never had a stain problem .Onley very clean clothes come out.I do not use Tide HE. Its the worst! I use Purex,All,Surf and have good results. I bought the machine at Pacfic Sales and got it for $ 475.00 on sale and have all the bells and the whistles. Having had an old Westinghouse Laundromat for years you learn how to wash properly.

Tumbler

You are right on I think that is most likely what happened to our Duets. That and the fact we have ultra humid conditions to contend with. Thats really not good for any computer stuff.
