Has anyone used just Biz for detergent? It mentions you can on the box for heavy soils. I really love this stuff, only the box is kinda small. It cleans amazing, but I wasn't sure if maybe it's not good to use alone and all the time. Too harsh?

I also noticed they have an Oxydol powder with Biz in it already. Has anyone used that?

Cool! Yeah there is. It's a powder. Their website says that Big Lots carries it. I found some on Amazon too...4 100oz boxes for like $50 (including the shipping). I guess it's hard to find, from the comment reviews on Amazon.

The only powder they list if the "Smells so Good" with Biz. The liquids don't have Biz. Link is below:

Go ahead

Like the original formulation powdered Biz is pretty much a detergent.

Have not seen the new stuff but the vintage in my stash is washing soda, oxygen bleach (sodium perborate), bleach activator, surfactants (anionic), fragrance, proteinase (enzyme) and other goodies.

Biz began as an enzyme pre-soak back in the days when few if any detergents had that power. Later it morphed into a color-safe bleach & presoak/stain remover (P&G gave Biz its activated oxygen bleaching system that later went to Tide), which is how it remained.

As P&G further developed Tide especially the "with bleach" formulas the need for Biz (a separate oxygen bleaching/stain remover product) became less and less. The stuff was still useful if you were't using TwB.

Cannot use the vintage Biz in my front-loading washers as it creates tons of froth and is difficult to rinse. However to take it along when going to the Laundromat.

Fan-tabulous!

Thank you Launderess! I was just reading the ingredients and they are pretty much now, as you stated. I LOVE the smell of Biz so I was hoping to use it for detergent alone. I washed my cleaning rags and some of them had all kinds of stains on them, including mustard and they came out spotless in my GE Filter Flo mini basket...even on normal soil setting.

I just printed a couple coupons as I'm getting low...and for Oxydol too. I'm going to try and find some if I can. Biz is at Target, so that's easier to find.

Yeah I noticed it's sudsy! Well Biz still has $1 off coupons on their website so I printed 2 and bought a couple more boxes at Target. 80oz for $5.99 with $1.00 off so I paid $4.99 per box...not too bad really. Considering a small box of Tide usually costs about $10-12...this was comparably priced and it cleans super well. Actually the cashier at Target gave me an additional 5% off from another customer so I scored even lower haha.

I could only find Oxydol liquid in my area. I just prefer the powders. It did smell good though and the bottle said it had Biz in it as well. I saw them at Big Lots for $4.60 for a big 100oz bottle.

It's cheaper!

Actually when I looked at my big box of Cheer powder...it's 164oz and cost $15.99 at Target. Even without the coupons 2 boxes of Biz would be a total of 160oz for $11.98. With the $1 off coupon you could actually get 240oz for $14.97, and really get a superior detergent. The Cheer cleans well, but Biz is even better.

I sound like a commercial now :-/

I've seen the liquid Oxydol, I did buy one before I think it was one dollar, I don't recall it saying with Biz, but it was nothing more than perfumed water, IMO. I also have the short squat boxes of powder Oxydol with Biz(63 loads), and it does have the he For Both on the box , it works very well on whites with hot water, i was impressed. The only place I've found it is at a mom and pops corner grocery store. The ingredients on the box listed are..biodegradable surfactants (anionic and nonionic), sodium percarbonate, and Biz enzymes. The scent is similar to Biz. Its been awhile since I've used it so I can't remember about sudsing, but I'll do a load today with it and let you know. Cheryl

Oxydol from the Dollar store is just that, Perfumed water.....not the greatest...

but the big bottle from Big Lot does come with Biz inside.....great smelling stuff....here it runs 4.80....66 loads, basically a shot glass....

sometimes I can find the powder at Family Dollar, one cup formula, 1/2 cup for HE machines, still a great scent, but no Biz included, at least not yet in this area...

with most color safe bleaches, you can double the dose on the smallest water level alone and get great results, using hottest water available......has worked wonders on many tough stains first time around....

love the cleaning and scent of Tide with Bleach powder, the liquid with bleach alternative is not quite the same....

Biz in my stash

Are the old blue with orange outlined and white lettering. Have a nice old fashioned "detergent" scent. Took a whiff of the new stuff when it came out at K-Sears on Astor place and didn't like it at all. Scent was rather like a cheap citrus/fruity perfume you'd find in a Moroccan knocking shop.

Again

Bleach alternative is just that; heavy doses of surfactants, OBAs and perhaps enzymes to make up for the absence of oxygen or chlorine bleach. Depending upon what is wanted this can work quite well.

These "bleach alternative" detergents can also contain various polymers and other additives to not only lift soils from laundry but keep it in suspension better thus giving a "cleaner" appearance.

Those coupons have been available for quite a while. I just used 2 at the same time! Good deal.

I actually like the smell of it lol. I guess I like smelling cheap ;-)

I prefer powders myself actually. I think I read a statistic somewhere that most powders are something like 10% more effective at cleaning because of the washing soda added? I can't remember. I like them because they are less messy. I hated liquid detergent dripping down the bottle and getting all slimy/sticky.

The Oxydol at Big Lots DOES smell good I have to admit. It was a big bottle, not what you'd find at the dollar store. I imagine Martin meant the dosing is about the size of a shot glass. The cap was rather small.... Good price if it works decent.

I did do a load with powder Oxydol with Biz, I had some suds but I may have used to much in my TL SQ, one rinse was completely clean. Whites were all white and stain free.I actually forgot about this stuff in my stash, I usually use old skool scent Tide with Bleach on whites. I wouldn't recommend Oxydol with Biz on colors or whites do to the sodium percarbonate in the stuff, but it does a good acceptable job on whites. Cheryl

Cool, thanks Cheryl! I'll keep searching around here for the Oxydol powder. No luck as of yet.

I will probably use the Biz for my whites/towels/sheets, etc and the Cheer on my dark clothes and work uniform, just to be safe.
