Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

I have one in my basement...

I call it the KenROAR because it literally roars when I turn it on.

I think Sears was gradually getting away from D&M machines which were prone to rust and the Hotpoint this is based on is all plastic.

I tend to agree on the $$$$ part, though IMO Kenmore was better off going for a loss as GE brought down the Kenmore reputation. Whirlpool has always given more for the money when it came to automatic dish-washing.

Most D&M built machines I've encountered have no soil separator to remove food particles from the wash and rinse water. They often got re-deposited onto the dishes and cutlery. If one does the no-no of prerinsing the dishes before loading, they do a good job. Although we had a roll-out impeller Westinghouse machine with no soil separator, but for some reason, it worked flawlessly for many years without the dishes needed to be pre-rinsed. Go figure! It may be because the manual said to scrape the dishes off with a rubber spatula before loading. Oh, we had soft water and the machine never etched our glasses.
