Bonnie Blackstone: Inside for the winter

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

John, you might be right….

…. that very well could be the same machine that we had in our kitchen for some 50 years! Well, at least the cabinet is original; my father and I must have rebuilt the insides a few times. Our 350 did not have the back panel on it. Sorry about the dirty side of the cabinet--it was right next to the stove.

I can remember as a kid leaning up against this cabinet as it was spinning, just to feel the vibration. Let me know if you find any fingerprints!

As an aside, does anyone remember Universal vacuum cleaners that sat in a metal base, which was on wheels? I used to roll around the kitchen in that. I should take a picture of this, now that I think of it.

Totally cool!

Hey Fred ... come visit here anytime! LOL. I started to clean the sides ... they are scrubbing up just fine. I was in Indian Orchard a few months ago ... that has to be pretty close to you I would think! you are correct .. there is no lower access panel .. I have a 150 machine would they be the same?
Ha Mick ... love the comparison shots! hehe

Indian Orchard

is a part of Springfield; has its own post office; even some street names in common with rest of the city. If you're from here, you just know when someone is referring to the orchard.

Years ago, my brother lived in Royal Oak, so I visited parts of Michigan. I was especially impressed with Henry Ford Museum and Dearborn Village.

AGitator and Boot pics

kinda cool!

Ha Fred... note the lint!
Do you have any pictures of your parents kitchen with the machines in place?

After a mini-bath

Bonnie got a good quick cleaning last night/this morning. She is currently in use in my kitchen as a mini island ... ha!

Kitchen Picture

I couldn't find a picture of the Blackstone in the kitchen. Best I could find is this picture, after the kitchen had been emptied out. The Blackstone sat in that spot for a good 50 years! Note the lack of a standing pipe for the drain. Gravity drain to a sink in the cellar.

Fred ....

Thanks for sharing the picture! Thats is really cool! So the dryer sat in a different area right? I think you said the wasger was next to the stove. I love the checkered floor ... may gve to do that in my new place. When was the washer/ dryer last used by your family? One of the best and most special things about this Blackstone set is the story behind it ... I really appreciate the details!

Scott...

The dryer was actually in our store, which was in front of our living quarters. A few of the members here might remember seeing the dryer when they were in our store. Washer was last used probably in 2006, although I might have run it through a cycle or two after that. Have you looked at my website, with pictures of the store?

Loved the pictures, is there narrative somewhere? I'm really inept at computer stuff, so maybe I didn't click in the correct spot?

Very cool building!

Hi Fred ...Next time I drive through the area ... I should stop and try to meet you and see the place! keep the picture coming if you find more!

So the dryer was actually hooked up in the store? Did your dad use it for demos etc?
