Hello, I'm Chris, a young washer person from the south of England with a few years of experience, a collection of approx 15 machines and a long list of previous machines. Some of you may already know me but I thought I'd better write a bit about me.

On topic. Yesterday, I sold a family a Bosch Exxcel 1200 and in return they gave me their old machine, a Bosch Exxcel 1100 WFO2265. The machine works to an extent...that being it washes and rinses fine, however on most occasions upon reaching the final spin the display will say 0:11 Mins remaining, then skip to 0:01 without any indication or attempt to spin at all. Does anyone know what the issue could be? The motor sounds rough and the brushes might need a change, I'll look at them tomorrow. I was thinking it might be the board, but it might be something simpler and hopefully cheaper than that.

Advice appreciated, thanks in advance.

Hey Chris!

I subbed you on YT a year ago I think and thought about inviting you here for a while, but now you foung here anyways ;)
I really liked the 1200 you sold, but this one is more rare I think. And I even think newer...
But anyway, I guess it will be the brushes. Always a good idea to check them first and than to dig deeper.
Hope you have a nice time on here.

Brushes

Hello Chris

If you suspect brushes then change them a.s.a.p., modern machines will often take out the main board if the brushes fail and send sparks every where.

These a re solid machines so if you get it sorted with just brushes then you have a result

Hi Gary and Henrik

I thought it might be the brushes that are gone, the motor sounds rough and that may be half its noise. I think that the dampers are gone too, the machine's tub will move excessivley when both spinning and washing. I'll take the motor out tomorrow and see what its doing, if the brushes need replacing then I'll change them, and I'll look online at dampers if the brushes are gone, then make a judgement on if I'll fix it. It needs a lid but I'll source one from the scrap pile at the Appliance Shop when I go next.

Below is a video of the machine (Watch from 0:54 onwards), please comment your thoughts, all appreciated! :)

Chris.

Arcing

That's arcing Chris don't use it until you get those brushes done. other than that it sounded ok............plus all the birds joining in :-)

I've seen this before Chris

and found that although the new brushes had been installed a few months before (not by me lol)they were very tight in the housings so weren't making good contact with the commutator, so yes change the brushes but make sure they slide freely in the slots.

Even so after I still only got the machine to spin once before cutting to 1min as you have here, so would be good to know what the answer is.

I've been out to a bosch today, wae24, flashing motor code, motor tests fine but can't yet reset the fault code, even following the reset sequence found online, so will need to do more testing, i've given them a loan machine so have more time to solve this one. It's only 3 years old, not brilliant longevity is it, when you think my hoover 1100 is 36 years old this month.

Update

Hi all. Thanks for the advice, I replaced the carbons yesterday and the machine runs like new! The old ones were worn down so much so, the wire was showing at the commutator end.

Anyone here got a lid for sale please?

Thanks

Chris
