Brand new belt-less Whirlpool Duet washer may be headed back to the store...

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

It can't be working right. Send it back! You don't want to be stuck with a lemon that's going to give you nothing but headaches. There comes a point where you don't trust an appliance, anymore, too. That's why my Smokey The Maytag (dishwasher) was banished, even after the recalled mother board was replaced. I just didn't trust it.

I've got an old Duet, and for the first time I've had an issue with spinning. Late one night I tossed in a mixed load of dark clothes and went to bed. Some of the pants I hang dry and one or two of my shirts, the rest go in the dryer. The next morning I went to hang the pants and they seemed very wet, same with the shirts. Felt the rest of the load and decided it did not spin out, I had selected the high speed spin.

Set the machine to spic cycle and it hung up at the 6 minute mark, it tried to rebalance for I'd guess 5 minutes. Finally it did go into high speed spin, but it took a while. This was a sort of unusual load for me, but it should not have been for the machine. I don't usually do pants with shirts, and this time it was only 1 pant with a number of shirts, so it might have really thrown off the balance. who knows.

Anyway as to the new machine, I'd opt for a replacement this early in the game, it might just be one of those dreaded problematic machines that pop up and I bet the next one off the line is fine.

Issues

Looks a great machine on the website Jamie, could you try it without the pedistal and on the solid floor, am wondering if the sensor balance on the power drive is sensing more imbalance through the pedistal causing it not to spin..!!

Still doesnt cure the three hr wash but given the large capacity it would equal an extended wash on a Euro machine given heating & capacity...

Good luck, Mike

Sears AD blurb claims "Place . . virtually anywhere"

AD QUOTE:

"Space SaverPlace your laundry pair virtually anywhere - Be assured of balanced performance and vibration control with Quiet Spin 360. The washer takes into account where its installed and adapts to improve its balance over time. A built-in accelerometer, six point suspension system and 2 dual balancing rings with 26 ball bearings keep the wash basket centered at all times"

It's not the pedestal...

My dad and I took the machine off the pedestal and put it on a flat cement floor to see what would happen. After leveling it, we ran it through a cycle. A load of towels, took 2.5 hours. It's not the flooring!

Whirlpool not looking so good.

Geezzz this is scaring me.
With all the revisions this washer has gone through since the introduction of the Duet line...all these issues are still unresolved.
I love Whirlpool but this is not making them look good at all.
Really, do they even test this stuff out before it hits the market?

I am guessing that you have a bad sensor that is telling the control board you have an out of balance issue all the time.

Does this machine have a self-diagnostic mode you can access?

I would call for service, and if not satisfied; off with it's head.

maybe time to punt?

Here the new LG WM2501HVA FL washer is often "spending time trying to distribute the load" but it keeps close to its original estimate.

A random walk into the laundry room has one asking what is it really doing. This machine has many random things, reverses, dis-en-tangles, or just soaking.

To get Your machine replaced it is better to dwell on the excessive time and be aware of any lemon law time deadlines in your state, if any.
