Has arrived people! Finally i have a fully working Newwave plus 5 1400 washer/dryer and its green! Heehee im really really pleased..seein how my last newwave had a faulty module. This one actually does full speed 1400rpm and man is it good!

Heres a pic!

Vids to follow!

Dispenser open with programme guide at the front...Sorry its blurry.

Some of the videos i've made are better quality...but unfortunately not long after the wash started my camara battery said it didn't want to play it wanted to charge in its cradle...so i made some short ones with my mobile...better ones will be up tomorrow.

Great news Darren - really pleased that you have managed to find a new wave.

ermmmm....Green...ermmm. Never really understood the mid 90's fixation with green appliances. A mate of mine had an all green Servis in a farmhouse kitchen and, to put it politely, it looked plain ridiculous!

However the new wave is a lot more tastefully done and looks great.

Any success in flogging your servis and logic?

Cheers
paul

Hi paul!
Hmmm yes the green craze...well i do miss the 1990s:P so i dont mind having this green piece of history:P lol. I never did like those all green servis's all too much....Didnt they do with a gold door? That looked borderline sickening lol.

I'm very pleased. and surprized how very short amount of time from me posting saying i wouldn't mind a british racing green one ,that i found one! lol! Schpookeh!

No sucess in flogging them....though the i moved the logic around n daylight happened to catch it and it stared at me...n i was like..."Ooooh....i dont really wanna get rid of you..."

N it came to me after the auction...i'm not really gettin rid of them because i dont want them, but because of overcrowding...the dead hotpoint is all i want rid of...i came up with the idea of storing them covered in the corner with a few light weight things on top...so it looks like their not taking up space and will be allowed to stay lol.

Gah...it was both amazingly fun and horrible sitting in my garage watching the newwave..i'm dyin from a throat infectin so i was shivverin like a ****in dog n smiling at the same time....very bizarre lol!

G'day Darren

Awesome that you've finally got it home. Bet you're loving the spin rinses and the final spin. Love being at my folks house when it drops slightly from 800 and then ramps straight upto 1400.. Awesome sound!

Also a fan of the fourth spin burst on the rinse spins when it goes from distrbution speed straight upto top speed within a couple of secs and then just cuts out and starts filling.. Such an awesome machine..

New Wave Spin Bursts...

When my mother had the early version AC178, it would be somewhat erratic in its behaviour.

If the water was heated from 'ice-cold' as you would have during the winter months, it would perform two spin bursts on the 40degree Cottons cycle. It would perform four on the 60degree Cottons programme.

As far as I can make out it did a spin on reaching 30degrees Celsius; then the temp rose to 40degC, and it did another burst. This temp was held for 8mins ("Enzyme Plateau"), then a third one was achieved. I think the final spin burst was at around 50degC.

However, if the incoming water was anywhere near tepid, it skipped them: and in some cases didn't do any at all on the 40degree Cottons programme! This was my bone of contention with the engineer...!

Later machines had a different control system, so may have performed more consistently.

And heres the final spin i caught it just as it shifted from 800 to 1400rpm its fantastic. Sorry for the decrease in quality it wasn't quite dark enough to put the light on, but not quite light enough to light the garage lol!

Enjoy

Darren

Crickey indeed! I can almost hear you smiling in that clip... ;-) Such a great sounding machine. Would love to see the spins inbetween the rinses and also catching it spining at 800 before it drops and then hits 1400 on the final spin.

I'll see if i can get that filmed for you tommorrow steve when i do some towels! Yea i was smiling a fair bit:P how cud u tell:P I love how similar it is to the logic, but also very different at the same time. I had a daft little thought earlier...Had they not been bought out, i thought what if they continued the newwaves? Like they kept the electrons a fair while. Can you imagine the "new wave plus 6, 7,8 & maybe even 9" Models! That would be something to see.

I can but dream.

Darren

It certainly would be interesting to see how the would have topped the New Wave plus 5. I still think that they can hold there own compared to most modern machines that are on the market now. I know water level has been dropped - but as most people agree it seems to be at the detriment of the rinsing.
I forget what the Plus 5 stood for - it was 5 certain additions to the wash phase.
Spin burst was one
I know they reserched Biological washing detergents and came up with holding the wash water at 40 degrees for 7 mins as this gave the enzymes in the detergents to do there best.
Was front fill one of them as well?

I believe from memory steve the plus 5 was the addition of 5kg load as the previous ones were 4.5kg. I always thought that was odd how the logic and ecologics before them were 5kg and then they went back to 4.5kg with the newwaves and classicas. Bizzare.

I actually am convinced that the newwave outperforms loads of current models. I mean tell me a machine that uses gravitation force to penetrate fabric and remove stains? It was rated A for wash performance!

I have my brochure infront of me. For those who don't know and those who just want to refresh their memory the eco wash system it uses consists of 7 key things;

1. The Eco valve-water flows into the machine, shutting off the valve, only then does the detergent pass into the machine. Which is how they managed to make it have 0 detergent loss.

2.The front fill. (I've included a pic of this) The water only flows in from the fill flume spraying the load with water and detergent. I find this actually creates even absortion.

3. mimimum tub/drum gap. Extremely narrow gap between the tub and the wash drum allowed the machine to use such a low amount of water and save on detergent.

4. The sensor spray system. Basically soak and shower system. holes in the paddles shower the load as it tumbles. Really cool turqoise paddles i may add:p

5. The Enzyme plateau- The heating cycle is held at 40degrees for 8minutes to activate the enzymes in biological detergent.

6. Spin washing- The washing is spun at slow speed (400rpm) For a short time during four different programme cycles.

I counted it today on a 40degree cotton cycle it span about 5 or 6 times in the wash!

7. Self adjusting water levels- Machine automatically adjusts water required dependent on the load conditions encountered.

Pretty technical stuff even today.

I've been using Ariel bio, Ariel with febreze liquitabs, Ariel colour And lenor summer breeze in my loads that i've done in it. All with outstanding results. It rinses brilliantly to say it uses 65litres of water.

And it's 11 years old! Way beyond it's time. Before I bought the Vision I did look on Ebay and some secondhand websites hoping to pick one up to replace the bosch Exceel machine and altho the Bosch was a new machine i found it completely inferior to the New Wave I was used to.
The spin bursts always used to depend on how much detergent I had used as well. It seemed if I used more/too much detergent the spin burst would be omitted. Which was probably a prevention to sudslock.
Keep the videos coming huh!
