Brokeback Mountain

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

It's been getting good reviews here, I'll wait till the clamor wears off. In the meantime here's my puppies walking down my road, Owebank Rd. on Christmas day. Can't see the mountains in this pic with this cam..

I saw it on Christmas Eve, 10pm show at the Barrett Pkwy AMC in Kennesaw, GA. The theater was practically empty. I think the few people that were there decided that they could openly give opinions and laugh whenever they saw fit. No excuses for ignunt asses.

It was hard to remember that the movie takes place over some 20+ years, except for the length of the sideburns and the women's style.

At the end of the movie, the message of the film dawned on me: if society was more accepting, these two people would have been happy and not screwed up people around them. A little too preachy for me.

I also have the sudden urge to tell people that I love them.

Wierd...

I saw previews while watching Logo at Max & Kirk's on turkey day. I guess I'll have to wait until they get it on DVD, cuz our schedules never can mesh when they go to Austin.

saw it

very depressing if youre in a lonely mood, and haunting, im still thinking about the characters one week later. ledgers acting is fabulous. gyllenhaal is beautiful. see it now!

David, sorry you didn't join until now, but welcome!!! Wish you'd been able to come to our first Texas wash-in 2nd weekend in December. We'll have another, hope you'll be able to attend. Sorry about the lonely mood, I can relate.

saw it today...

with Fred and Joe...
It exhausted me emotionally.....
A very good movie, tragic...it ripped up my heart!

THIS IS A MUST SEE.

Saw it a second time.
Caught subtleties missed the first time.

Had a better understanding of the time-frame in which it all was supposed to take place.

Saw the last show of the day. Wall-to-wall decorators. There was not a dry eye in the house.

The first scene takes place in 1963- so I simply used a
birthday of 1940 for the guys to figure out their relative ages in the movie.

Keep an on eye on the differece in attitude bewteen Jack Twist's mother and father. And the nods and hand-signals that communicate volumes with no words when they are visited.

SERIOULSY:
Please go see this esp. of you have a membership card and or dabble.

the religious ratbags are carrying on here already and the movie doesn't release in this country till Jan 26.

Rev. Fred Nile, famous for praying for rain every Mardi Gras in Sydney, said on radio today, "well if it MUST be released in this country at all, it should only be available on video for homosexuals to watch in their own homes."

Fortunately the nasty old fool will be ignored by the authorities.

We will be seeing this one at the cinema, and we are not big movie goers.

Chris.

I've seen it several times (keep taking people to it) and I'm still not sick of it. It's great to have such a high-quality gay-themed film out in the world. I made the mistake of taking a friend whose gay brother had committed suicide recently and he was pretty emotionally overwhelmed by it. I felt bad; I just hadn't thought about how it would affect him.

My spouse and I saw it today. We thought it sort of unusual that most of the people attending were middle aged women. Are we out of some kind of loop?

We left and could not really talk for a while. It was sad but made us realize that some people waste their lives no matter what the time frame is. How can Ennis ever turn back the hands of time?

This was not a "feel good" film but certainly it made you think and feel and then connect to those feelings. We talked about how on some level, (I said SOME level), it made us think of "Philadelphia" and "American Beauty". Notice I did not say we compared it to those films, BUT that it made of think of them.

If you have any question in your mind, put it aside and go. We feel we need to see it again to fully appreciate the film.

Did you think str8 guys would go see it?

Maybe the idea does for them (older women)is like what 2 ladies does for avg. guys.

Or better yet, it is a love story of an extremely romatic nature. The *unattainable*, prohibited love.

Toggle-- I have two middle-aged female friends who personify the very definition of 'living life to the fullest'. And though I'm not obsessed by it, I generally go by 'Eugene', with the accent on the second syllable, where it belongs, damn it. ;)
