OK I just finished writing and installed onto the live server my code changes to enable everyone to view the dates/times threads are created and replies posted to in what ever time zone you wish.

To change your time zone:

#1 Make sure you are logged in
#2 In the upper right corner of any index page (or in a thread on the top navigation bar) select "Edit Profile".
#3 The sixth field down from the top is Time Zone. Click on the arrow to drop down over 100 possible time zones. Select the one you want and then click on the Update Changes to my Profile button at the top of the page.

Now go back and look at a thread or index page and all the times you see are (or should be) in your local time.

This was a major code change, so I suspect we will find some bugs. One thing i have not finished yet is when a thread reports that a post has been edited more than 15 minutes after it was posted, this still will be in Minneapolis time. Next week I'll work on getting those converted over too.

Please report any bugs or anything strange that happens in this thread ASAP. If the bugs are serious I will back out the code. Thanks again everyone, let me know what you think.

ps. Those living in the Central Time Zone of North America do not need to change anything as the system will continue to default to Minneapolis time.

Works fine for me (Mac OS 10.6.3, Safari 4.0.5).

So, I can remove the Minneapolis clock from my dashboard now :-)

(people have asked me about that clock...)[this post was last edited: 5/28/2010-14:56]

Let's try it... woo-hoo! This is great, thank you!

PS: I'm very amused by Minneapolis Time -- in a way, it's the center of our universe. Incidentally, this is the third version of this post (edited twice ow), I'm loving that feature too!

Good now that I know its working I can safely head off on a road trip to Fargo this morning to pick up three very rare machines. ;-)
