This is fabulous, Robert. You've outdone yourself this time, Mister.

I can't begin to imagine what's coming next. Always a huge happy surprise.

I sure do appreciate everyone's bug report

Ok thanks for the reports everyone. Too many bugs for tonight so I reverted the code and will try again tomorrow.

First thing I want to fix is the hard return issue for non-upgraded posters, then I want to get Chrome to behave with its hard returns.

I'll also have to add a toggle for those on slower computers to be able to turn the formatting bar off.

More to come.

Did not get a chance to try it but it looks very cool!

When you go to Full 3-D for members, will you be providing the 3-D glasses? Or will we have to purchase them somewhere on our own?

Thanks
Brent

While I was at work today.....

... I was going to reply to another thread... and as LordKenmore said above, irregardless of what I tried, all my paragraphs ran together in ONE paragraph. At work we STILL have Internet Explorer 6 (ugh!). After seeing this thread I realized it was because of being IE 6.

Now here at home I use Safari and I don't see the tool bar, but you said you turned it off... for now.

OK, I'll check back tomorrow!

Thank you SO MUCH Robert for everything you are doing with AW!!!

Kevin

Just a quick update...

I think I got the bugs we found yesterday worked out but I'm not finished with the toggle switch to turn the formatting bar on and off. I want to enable anyone who might be on a slower/older computer to turn it off so it doesn't effect their computer speed.

While personally I like the color and the creativity, not everyone will, so I plan on implementing another switch that you can select to automatically strip out all formatting that a members might include in their posts.

More to come when I'm done. Not sure how long its going to take.

ps. This wont be ipad/ipod/iphone compatiable at first. Everything with apple can be very difficult for us developers, so that will have to be done on another release.

Robert, will this new profile option select between the old and new editors, or just turn the formatting bar on/off?

Robert, will this new profile option select between the old and new editors, or just turn the formatting bar on/off?

Good question Jeff, it actually will be between the new and old editors, the old editor input box will be slightly larger, but the code behind it will be exactly the same. You'll see, I think you will like it.

It will show up on the iMac/Mac Desktops and Mac Laptops Eugene, I was only referring to Apple's mobile devices.

I just have it turned off as of yet because its not quite ready yet.

Lets try it again now...

OK those of you who are using: Firefox, Chrome, Opera, IE8 and are not on a iPhone, iPad, or iPod should see a new link that says "Switch Advanced Editing Bar On" (see image below).

Please switch it on and give it a try in this thread and see how it works for you.   You can toggle it on and off and your browser will remember the setting so next time you are in a thread the Editing Bar should be either on or off depending on where you last had it set to.

Also if any of you Droid users would be so kind as to let me know if this works at all on your Droid?

This programming is extremely complicated and I think I got many of the kinks out from the last time.  If not I will back it out once again and continue debugging.

Thanks everyone for all your continued help.  Oh I still have it on my to-do list to have a setting to allow users to not display the advanced color/font formatting that users might try, if the colors bother you.  I should hopefully have that done within a week or so.

Text alignment doesn't work. It looks ok in de composing window, but gets lost in the preview and in the message as it appears in the thread.

Testing Advanced Editing bar.  Text is Times New Roman, but defaults to Aerial (my default) once I click Post.

Above should be a carriage return.

Various fonts tricks.

iMac OSX, Chrome browser.

Here I go.  My typing displays in Times Roman.

Here's italics.

Hard return, and colored font.

Firefox here.

Thanks everyone.

I thought I had the centering/right/justify buttons working, but alas they don't seem to work now.  I'll work on that when I get time over the next few days.  It appears though the font changes and colors are working much better without removing line breaks and hard returns.

Slowly but surely.

No advanced bar on my iPad...unless you've already disabled it? And my text in my prev post was centered on the preview, but not the actual post...failed to mention that.

Strike through turns on and off for me Kevin, be sure to have highlighted the entire strike through'd area.

Apple Mobile Device Users:
The advanced formatting bar is not yet programmed for the iPhone, iPad or iTouch, at least not as of yet.

lol I bet that gets noticed.

I see I also have to work on the interline spacing of larger fonts.

Increasing the font is really helpful for me with my poor vision!  I can enlarge the text while composing then reduce it a little before I post.
