Bug Report #7 Ooohhhhh I bet you guys are going to like this new feature

The new 100,000 times improved Super-Searchalator.

So it was quite a challenge but I had to write a program to go through all of our old text file posts and have the program "read" the files and try to pick out the title, comments, links and images for each one and place them into our new database. This was a big challenge and there were some errors, but in 200,000 posts it was less than 1000 which is pretty good.

So with that done I was able to write the new and improved Super Search-a-lator. Here it is, give it a try. There will be some bugs both in the searching and the data at first so like always please post them here and please be as descriptive as possible.

Oh I forgot to mention that the search at this point only covers the Imperial and Deluxe forums. I will load the Super Forum threads as well when I complete the upgraded membership program, but that will be last on the list. Next I want to work on allowing users to edit their posts.

Whirlpool was mentioned in 8,618 posts,
Kenmore was mentioned in 9,240 posts,
and of all things
Maytag was mentioned in 13,799 posts!

ps. I will go through the old Applianceville posts (2001 thru 2004) and add them as well to the database at some point. Maybe that will "even" the score lol.

Fabulous!

Taking to heart Foraloysius' preference for only the most exclusive brands, I fed "Lady Kenmore" into the new and improved Super-Searchalator. After all, if you're going to have a Kenmore, then it should of course be a Lady! The results: 1264 hits, showing how much more exclusive a Lady is over an ordinary Kenmore.

Well with all those leaky stem seals, no wonder why there are so many posts with cries for help. hmmmmph, I can duck and run with the best of them!

Oh and in case you haven't checked already ducks and runs comes up 207 times!

I really love this new feature! I have a question about it though. Just for kicks I typed in Rollermatic and searched all available posts and oldest first. It tells me there are 760 posts but only displays 2 pages 1-30, and 31-60 respectively. Should I see all the posts from 1-760?

Joe I entered rollermatic and can scroll through the posts all the way up to 760. Of course you can only see 30 posts at a time, are you sure you were hitting Next>>> and not <-Prev?

Only have to wait up to one hour

One thing I wanted to let everyone one know is with any new post it will come up in the search within one hour of being posted. I wrote a program that is automatically launched at :56 minutes after each hour that copies the post into the archive database which makes it searchable after that program is run.
