Butter Churns for Late Maytag Wringers (E,J,N)

We all know that mid production Maytag wringers could be fitted with butter churs to help justify the expence of the product on the farm, but I was suprized that late model wringers (E, J, N) could also be fitted with chrns.

I've never seen them before. Do they come up often (obviously in agricultural areas)? Are they stamped MAYTAG for brand identification? How much do they generally run?

Maytag churn

They operated differently depending on the agitator. If you had the old style agitator with wing shaped fins the whole churn went back and forth (think GE mini basket). The newer ones were attached to the sides of the tub and only the dasher went back and forth. I have been looking for either kind for about a year ( before I got my Maytags I let several go for around $50.00 on e-bay). Isn't that the way- when you don't want one they are everywhere but the minute you need one you can't find any! They would not work well as an ice cream freezer because the dasher does not scrap the sides of the container or make a complete revolution. Jeff

ok, this is a good oprtunity to ask this then...

were there more than one churn attachment then? I swear I have seen a Maytag butter churn acesseory, not like that, that goes in the tub. But one that has a gear box, and a glass jar, that sits on the gear shaft where the Wringer sits, and comes off. Maybe I just am mistaken, but it really seems I have.

I have never seen a butter churn attach to the wringer but have seen a meat grinder.
