I have found a distant dealer that says they have the new washer & dryer I want in stock to replace my now dead-in-the-water washer.

A local dealer I have an order with for a few weeks now says the date they are now using is 10/7 but it's not firm at all.

The distant dealer offers free delivery and recommends using Home Advisor to find someone to install.

I have never bought something like this distantly before and seems to me there are so many players (the dealer, the UPS or whoever, the installer . . . .) that it's complicated enough to be excessively risky.

Any advice?

make sure the truck coming to deliver

has a lift.  I have seen people get burned where the truck shows up without a lift. (as in trailer truck). Thinking they were coming to an address with a dock.

Have you looked at the Speed Queen stacked laundry? If you’re looking for simplicity and long life it’s what I’d recommend. As far as ordering from an out of town dealer I did it in 2016 without an issue but I just had them dropped off and not hooked up.

I’ve repaired washers and dryers for a long time and I can tell you that nothing is made like it used to be and some are a lot worse than others. One advantage of buying from a local dealer is service in the future and warranty. When I worked for a family owned dealer we went out of the way to make sure people who bought from us were taken care of. That was 20 years ago and they only serviced what they sold. There weee many calls where someone had bought from a big box store that we turned down for service back then.

Just my opinions and something to think about.

Here we go!

Thanks for the reply and good info.

I went ahead with the purchase from the distant dealer, ETA 1 week.

As suggested by the dealer website, I found an installer via Home Advisor, which I have used successfully many times.

Hopefully, all will go smoothly . . . .
