I was always told there are no stupid questions only stupid answers, so here goes. To our friends on the south side of the equator, does your calendar on March 20 state that this is the begining of fall, such as ours on the northern side of the equator says its the begining of spring? Along with December 21st ours says the beginning of winter does yours say the beginning of summer? I have been to Brazil and Venezuela but never thought to look. Inquiring minds want to know. Sorry spelling isn't that great today. Laying sick in bed for a week now. Thanks.

Honey,

How many of my postings have you read and you still think there are no stupid questions?

:-)))

I hope you get to feeling better soon and, frankly, I too, am curious as to the answer.

Of course, having lived in San Francisco, I can definitely say that the coldest winter I ever spent was July by the Bay...

In Australia, technically March 1 is the beginning of Autumn (Fall) and September 1 is the start of Spring. Summer starts on December 1 and Winter starts on June 1.

The Part of the country I live in is Sub tropical, so there is little fluctuation in seasons. Summer has highs around 35degC and lows of 20degC, winter has highs of 24degC and lows of around 6degC, so quite warm and balmy all year round. Our typically wet season is summer, from December through to March and for the first time in 5 plus years, we've had a nice rainy summer.

March 21st...

...is the official start of autumn here in Buenos Aires, south of the Equator.

This reminds me of a time I was having a haircut in this very fancy barber shop in Buenos Aires, it was in January, and the 20 something year old guy who was clipping my hair told me he had just come back from a vacation in Disney World. Being winter up there I asked him about the weather, he said "just fine, it is summer there after all". I told him that Florida is north of the Equator, so in January is winter up there. He thought for a while and then said "I guess most probably it must have been spring or autumn, because the weather was so very nice"... I had a good laugh!

By the way, this very same guy later became a male photo model, ended up in NYC and was casted two or three times in Sex and the City!
