Hi.
I am fixing a Kleenmaid KFL800 for friends.
These machines are rebadged Gorenjes.
Also sold here in Aus as a Simpson Enviro 080.
The machine needs its drum bearings and seal replaced.

I have attached a link which shows the main seal which needs to be replaced.

This seal prevents water getting to the main bearings.

the question is...The inner lip of this seal runs on a brass ring around the main shaft. On this particular machine the brass ring has a deep groove or notch on the ring - not a wear groove around the ring, but a clear and deep notch from front to back of the ring. It is very distinct, it certainly looks like it was manufactured that way. It doesn't look like damage. But I have never seen a groove like that before. It looks to me as if it would eat away the rubber seal as it rotates, I can't understand why there would be a groove (like a slot) in the brass ring.

So... should there be a slot in the brass ring? If not, is the ring still available as a spare part? I can't find one online but I haven't found a parts diagram yet.

According to the link, this part corresponds to a Gorenje WA1082 or WA1287 machine.

thanks.
Chris.

Hi,

Sorry, I'm not an expert when it comes to repairs, so I haven't understand much what has to be replaced, but if you tell me exactly what you need I can ask our Gorenje service if the spare part is available.

sorry about the delay

I now have a photo of the bronze ring in question.

Is the split in the bronze ring correct, or is it a fault?

If a fault, is it available as a part? I can't find a part number.

thanks

Chris.
