Well, Acti-Lift seems to have had a short life, even by Tide's standards. I was at a WalMart today, and noticed only one version of Tide (non-HE Original Tide Liquid) was advertising "with Acti-Lift."

I was in the same WalMart about six weeks ago, and almost every variant of Tide had the "with Acti-Lift" advertising on the cap. I purchased a jug of liquid Tide With Bleach Alternative With Acti-Lift HE.

I figured this warranted a trip to Tide.com, and sure enough, the only version that says "with Acti-Lift" is non-HE Original Tide.

Wonder what happened there?

This is the current list of liquid Tide formulations at the US Tide site. I clicked on several in the list, and only one stated it used Acti-Lift technology. I recall visiting the site a few months ago, and Acti-Lift was in many versions of their liquid detergent at that time.

the canadian version

the tide free and Total care on the HE side does not have acti-lift, and in the Traditional liquid, the Coldwater, Free, and Total care does not have it as well. the rest of the range do. Interesting to see that one country will carry some, and the other does not.

Tide Coldwater (Non-HE)

I had always liked the Tide Coldwater liquid. The last batch I bought with the Actilift was too sudsy for me to use for small loads in my regular top-loader. I read a lot of complaints on the Tide site about it discoloring their laundry. That didn't happen with me, but I ended up giving the detergent away because I was tired of suds lock at even miniscule doses.

I wonder if others were as unhappy as I was?

It's not gone! It's just not new anymore.

I asked Tide about discontinuing the Acti-Lift formula on their Facebook page (How convenient!) and they responded:

"<span>Jamie--we are not discontinuing the Acti-Lift formula, we've just removed the plastic label from the caps. Hope this helps! :)"</span>

<span>I never really realized it, but the ONLY difference between the bottles of Acti-Lift vs. non are the plastic labels on the caps! Good thing too, cuz I LOVE LOVE LOVE Tide Coldwater HE liquid with Acti-Lift! It smells wonderful, cleans fantastically, and always rinses clear with minimal sudsing in the wash! (I'm not a huge fan of suds.)</span>

<span>Gmmcnair- You might try the HE version. I use it in toploaders allllll the time and have had NO issues with performance! Not to mention almost no sudsing!

Thanks for the follow-up, Jamie! I'll have to look over a bottle of Tide to see if it mentions Acti-Lift somewhere in small print, or it they're simply not trumpeting it at all, anymore.

I agree with you about the reformulated liquid Tide Cold Water HE. It's great!

I use Woolite For Dark Colors for my black loads, but it is fairly wimpy in the cleaning department. Is there a version of Tide without optical brighteners (which make blacks look faded and 'dusty')?

If you get a moment, Jamie, try asking that question at Facebook and see if you get a response. I don't have (or want) a Facebook account, so I don't go there.
