This is great. Combined wiht the new (to us) flat rates for all calls from one's cellular, now I can give-up my landline whose funcion was to give out a number to businesses and coporations I don't want tagging me on my mobile/cellular.
In order to have a good credit rating one must have a telephone number. This Vumber thing appears to be good for that purpose as well as others.
If it can be made to ring differently than the main/actual cell number, it will be a hit with me!

Are you still charged for incoming calls over there?- Guessing thats why sales calls etc are def not wanted!.
Over here we have never been charged for incoming calls- the caller pays a premium, althought having said that most current mobile and some landline plans treat all mobile and landline calls the same with regard to cost

In my experience, they're not wanted at all, even if they're free to accept!
Yes, we do get charged for incoming as well as outgoing on most plans. When you use your phone, you'tre charged. As Steve said, there are some companies offering unlimited cell use for a flat rate, but the latest ad I heard says it's $99 a month for that. Unfortunately there hasn't been a cell phone yet that's been able to get a usable signal in most of our house, so we have to have a landline. Luckily, that's now bundled with fiber optic cable TV and broadband internet for $99 a month.
I understand what you're talking about with the premium to the caller for calling a mobile #. I use a prepaid calling card to call a friend in the UK and it deducts only $0.02 a minute. However, if i call his mobile, it's something like $0.40 a minute.
The faster we go, the behinder we get!
