hi my candy 1400 aquaviva is 8 years old and up to now has worked perfectly that is up to a week or so ago it washes fine but dosnt always do the last spin could this be the brushes i ask this because my previous machine [a hotpoint]went through brushes like a baby gets through nappys i have to say this machine has been trouble free since new and i would like to repair it so any ideas would be very welcome thanks Anthony

More Info needed!

Does this machine have a mechanical/hybrid cycle selector? It is likely that the brushes need replacing after 8 years but I find it strange that it should happen only on occasions and just on the final spin. You need to provide more information as to how and when it happens... do you see any unusual sparks?

I would change the brushes anyway as they've never been replaced before... there are not at all expensive and there's plenty of guidance on YouTube on how to do this. See link below.

Good luck!

PS: I love the Aquaviva, I had one for a week :-P

candy aquaviva

thanks for the advice guys i took the brushes out [what was left of them ]and fitted some new ones and its fine i noticed the rubber colar around the door is starting to wear a little so i turned it upside down just till i can ger a new one cheers everyone Anthony

I had a Frigidaire front loader come in for repair. The owner decided the cost of replacing the door latch/lock was too much. I kept it and replaced the door latch/lock. It has worked flawlessly ever since. If the latch/lock is broken, it will do everything but spin.

Well Done Anthony!

My only concern now is about the rubber O-ring you turned upside down... that means that the rubber clothes retainer is no longer at the top as it will now be at the bottom... this could cause some items not to evacuate properly and tear as a result.

Was replacing the carbon brushes an easy job? I might need your advice soon as I will probably have to do it as well on my Hoover as it's only 1 year or so younger than your Candy and it's used a lot too. My previous machines never had brushes hence my total inexperience :-P
