Right now NOT looking--maybe I will stumble into a CG at a swap shop or yard sale.Just hoping.They might as well be the Hope diamond in my area.The Hi-Fi on he left in the picture looks like the real "woody" model.The tuner-preamp on that one looks just like what my Moms had.Hers was the "modern" type case.She liked Early American furniture-surprized she didn't get one like what is in the picture.Got many,many hours of listening from her unit!-Records and the radio.Later CD's.Connected a CD player into the Aux input on her unit.Worked really well!She then played more CD's than records.

I've seen this advertised before, I'm convinced there couldn't be two of them. It was pricer the first time around. Even though it now says the turntable's not working I still think it's worth $150. Looks like an all-wood cabinet, not too gaudy for Mediterranean and it has those very cool Motortola round tuners...Vibrasonic too. Floating around out there with the Queen Mary.

I'm sure there's no audiophile sound that comes out and it does look like it needs rehabilitating, but it's still an interesting stereo. I guess I always liked the Symphonic logo. Overpriced in the LA area.

Yes,LOTS of console audiophiles in the Palm Springs area.The Hi-Fis are really common there.Guess there are Fisher,Scott,and Magnavox dealers there at one time-high income area.Fisher and Scott Hi-Fis are others audiophiles are looking for.BUT-In the Fisher unit-where is the center spindles for the TT-beleive these Garrard TTs had two-short for single-manual play and tall for changer play.Uusually they were stored in a clip inside the TT compartment-same with the 45 RPM adaptor.

I don't recall seeing that Fisher console. Must have been one of my "bad hair" days. Actually there isn't a lot of vintage here in the Desert. Back in the 70's when I was in college there was practically nothing between Palm Springs and Indio, just sand. Cathedral City, Rancho Mirage, Palm Desert and Indian Wells are all kind of "new." I think when people move they tend to leave vintage items behind. In most cases the pickins are slim.
You do find plenty of items like this advertised, currently @ $60

The Garrard turntable..
in that ~'62 Fisher Ambassador IV was the Type A. The 660A amp used 7591 output tubes for about 25w/ch, we've had at least one of those over the last 35 yrs or so. The Custom Electra was the more common slightly lower line model that you see more often. by about '64 the Ambassador became a hybrid unit with less than desirable Germanium transistors in amp output stage, but the pre-amp/tuber section remained all tubes. Some of these later Ambassadors had Dual 1009 turntables.

7591 tubes--seen these in Fender G-fiddle amps,power amps in older Lowrey Organs,and MC225 McIntosh power amps.Have this amp-at the time I bought it-7591 tubes not available.So changed the amps to use EL-34.Works great.Just had to change the bias resistors.Replaced the bias diodes while at it.Ran the amp from a separate full wave 5U4 tube supply-so much better than the factory voltage double solid state thing.Also the 7591 was a popular tube in Hi-Fi receivers made in those times-compact,efficient and took up less space than EL-34 or 6L6 type tubes.

The similar Novar based 7868 last time I looked is still not reproduced, so owners of receivers amps & receivers that use them, like the Fisher 400, are stuck with finding vintage tubes at rather high prices.

The Novar 7868-Used to have a Pioneer receiver that used these tubes-The unit worked well-Sold it to someone that needed an amp.The new,taller Russian 7591-never seen one-but owners of older Lowrey organs should be able to use them-plenty of room!They also should fit the Fender Guitar amps that used them-the tubes will have to run upside down,though.Usually this isn't a problem.The other electronics in the amp get cooked from the heat.You have to replace electrolytic caps in these amps often-esp if they get hard use.
