Has the skid-type belt idler ... which of course will be replaced with the replacement pulley-type.

Note the sound insulation pad to the right.

Found this extra top-locator pin down here, apparently left from the factory.

Insulation pad on the left.  They're listed at $99 (I assume for the pair) on SearsParts!  $85 at PartsTap.

Bottom of filter housing.  The fuse was initially stuck in the lint higher up at the drum air intake, it fell down when I bumped the housing.

Back of the air intake on the bulkhead.  The foam seal is deteriorated.[this post was last edited: 9/11/2011-21:50]

The air pathways were covered with a nice layer of lint, anchored by what I assume is residue from dryer sheets.  This is after going at it with a shop-vac hose.  I washed/scrubbed everything.

The upper half of the element frame is charred, cracked, and warped.  It heated on pre-disassembly testing and cycled properly so apparently isn't grounding-out (at least during the test) so I hadn't anticipated a problem, but I don't think it should be run like this!

WP DRYER REBUILD

Welcome to the world of appliance abuse. The heater is probably OK but this dryer was operated with less than a ideal exhaust system, but I an sure that will not happen under your care. Other wise it looks like you are doing a great job as usual and this dryer could last another 20-30 years if the main board cooperates.

Lint Layer Anchored by Dryer Sheet Residue

toggles is right, along with a few other people here.  THAT RIGHT THERE SHOWS WHY NO ONE SHOULD BE USING DRYER SHEETS IN THEIR DRYER!!!  Major fire hazzard.  That film residue attracting the lint.

Pierre, you have completely disassembled your dryer and inspected it to confirm there is no lint and softener residue accumulating?

BTW, if anyone is wondering about the green grass ... I've been running the sprinklers.  Notice in the first picture a dead zone begins where they don't reach.
