The idiot...

had a round in the chamber.

When you load a clip into a Glock (or a typical automatic) the gun still will not fire. You have to "chamber a round" by usually pulling back on the firing mecanism. This puts a bullet in the chamber. After you have done that, if you pull the trigger the gun will fire.

So, the idiot does a number of things. He uses his own gun instead of a demo to demonstrate to school (or wherever it was) ant it has a round in the chamber. The only time a gun should be loaded is if it is in a secured safe, on your person, or in your hand ready to fire. If he was bringing it in for demonstration, it should not have been loaded. If he wanted to show it being loaded, there is no reason for a round to be chambered.

If you watch the video, he takes out the clip off camera, but the gun is "chambering", that is, pulled back to load a bullet. So the putz basically arms the gun. Then notice he releases it, which makes the gun ready to fire. Then he actually pulls the trigger. If he followed the rule that you don't pull out your duty gun unless you intend to shoot someone, this never would have happened.

I hope he loses his job. If you don't have any idea of firearm safety after being a police officer, you need to go. He is either insanely careless or stupid. He could have killed anyone in there. Then he has the nerve to pull out a rifle. I would have walked out.

I feel the idiot "officer" should be fired immediately as well-perfect examples of how NOT to handle a firearm---or that other appliance-Watching that film clip made me cringe!!He is so lucky he didn't hurt or kill himself or anyone else in that room. For a moment there in that film did look as though he shot himself--I had never seen a gun so carelessly handled as that film clip-and by someone who should know better. He doesn't act or look like a professional police officer. And during those demoss-live ammo shouldn't even be in the same room where the gun is being demonstrated-dummy ammo is used instead-cartridges that don't have live primers or powder.I you have to handle an automatic firearm such as the Glock or the Ar-15 he showed--You need to remove the magazine and cycle the action again to eject any chambered rounds.then leave the gun open to show others its safe. The last cartridge in the semiauto gun is most often called "that tragic last round" for a good reason. That film clip should be shown to his superiors!!!

This guy was just on O'Reilly Fox News

And get this, he and his lawyer are suing for the tape getting out.

He said one of the reasons it happened is that he was in a hurry to get to the class and forgot to clear the gun. He actually SHOT himself in that video (I thought he may have) which also made it amazing that he kept going. The bullet from the gun bounced off a round he had in his pocket! It was only by the grace of God that the bullet didn't bounce and hit someone else. Good grief what a terrible situation.
