Cigarette entrees that hooked us

You get a lot to like with a Marlboro, filter, flavor, pack or box.
Only Parliament has the filter that's in, recessed in.
Winston tastes good, like a (thump-thump) cigarette should.
I'd walk a mile for a Camel.
A hint of mint makes the difference, so cool, that you'll know the difference, it's so refreshing while you're smoking Newport filter cigarettes.
You'll be smoking cool, cool, all the time, when you come up to Kool!
A silly millimeter longer: Chesterfield 101's.
Be happy, go lucky: Lucky Strike!
Us Tareyton smokers would rather fight than switch!
The seven-minute cigarette, Pall Mall Gold 100's - it lasts longer.

I'm sure there are 100's more I've forgotten, but I did stop smoking when I was 40!

Oh, the disadvantages of Benson & Hedges 100s

One of my favorites.  The Brass Ring's "The Disadvantages of You" was brilliantly adapted by Benson & Hedges to promote the length of their cigarettes.  It's the quintessential soundtrack of the mid '60s, with ads containing scenes of people smashing roughly 30mm worth of their 100's into everything imaginable.

Here's a collage of stills from Benson & Hedges ads with the full length version of "The Disadvantages of You" for all the children of the '60s -- enjoy!

I know there were commercials for Frigidaire ranges cause I've seen a b/w one on YouTube, but did they make any for their washers and dryers? I don't remember any for them or Philco. They did print adds though. Anyone remember?

Australian ads...

"Hoover, Boss of the wash."

"Mini. I don't have to prove a thing." (from real minis of the 1970s, not those awful BMW mini things)

"It Floats on Fluid" - the Morris 1100 car which had Hydrolastic fluid filled suspension.

"Leyland P76. Anything but average." (for what was at the time an average size car.)

Renault 12 Virage - "Drive it. You'll buy it."

Fiat 850s in early 70s had a sticker in the back window - "I'm having a love affair with my FIAT."

"Guess whose Mum's got a Whirlpool?"

Don Lane show where Bert Newton plugged the sponsor's Hammond organ - "it only takes three minutes, two fingers and an organ to have a ball..."

TWA, TAA...

Interesting to see up, up and away for TWA....

Here in Australia we had TAA (Trans Australian airways) with "Up, up and away, with TAA, the friendly, friendly way..."

Later it became "fly the friendly skies with TAA."
