Cats and X-mas trees

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Ahh, my recently departed cat (Wurlitzer, 15ish years, indoors only) never climbed the tree, though when we adopted her, she was already declawed (we didn't choose to, she was dumped at the pound that way). She'd sit under it, sleep under it, chew bows. never climb it.

Then again, she always behaved, despite being the "cat you don't really want".

BTW, if you're thinking of a pet cat or dog, I can't recomend the local shelter enough. There's plenty of excellent animals there that need homes and are reasonably priced. Shelter pets rule! :)

Cats and Christmas Trees

We have 2 cats.. Tortise and Holly (she was something i brought home after christmas).. We had to quit putting up trees because SOMEBODY kept climibing up the FAKE christmas tree and knocking it over.. We now decorate the artifical palm tree with small orniments and they do leave it alone... Although i think what really broke em was when we decorated the Live Cactus (we had big gloves on and hung orniments off of it one year out of disgust).. Now i have another idea: We can take a small 4 ft tree attach a few magnets to the bottom and attach it to the top of our front loader.. They hate that thing with a passion (worse than the vaccume).. Although i think when it vibrates the orniments might fall off.. Hmmmm.

ha ha i cant imagine cats in the tree but then again im not a cat person.. but i will tell you sometimes boy dogs and christmas trees dont mix either.. boy dogs like to hike their legs on trees... get the pic it was nasty

Christmas is so much easier with a weiner dog! Though I'll admit I did wake up a 3:00AM once to find her desperately trying to open a box of chocolate-covered cherries!

For the cat people out there, take a look at this. I re-read this page every year and it never ceases to be hilarious.

Weiner Dogs!

I can not agree more, this is the first year for a cat at our house. Joseph (the wiener dog) just lays under the tree and enjoys the heat (1850 lights on the tree) while Soloman (the CAT).... well lets just say there are three spray bottles along the tree skirt... so far so good..

Very funny!

Toggles: Cat giblets in soup! Shame on you!

Greg: at least you have enough respect for cats to suggest that they be stir fried in only the very finest cookware! (However, as wonderful as All-Clad is for other purposes, you would be disappointed with a stainless steel wok. The meat would stick instead of stir frying. The stainless steel would never season like a real carbon steel wok. And you wouldn't be able to toss the food in it because it would be too heavy to flip it up with a flick of the wrist.)

Foraloysius: As for, Shut the Fuck UP, wouldn't it be marvelous, fellow managers, to post that on your office door?

Rick: shame on you! May a stray cat sneak into your house and pee on your pillow.

Frigilux: now the moat doesn't sound like a half-bad idea. As in, center the tree in a kiddie pool. It would work, but not be pretty.

Alas, I don't have a closed-off or close-off-able room (or I would have done that long ago).

The motion detector dog sounds good, too. Where are they sold?

Or perhaps a trip up the street to Petco. Thanks Veg! (BTW, congratulations on your new boyfriend!)

Last thought: my cats are terrified of rattling plastic bags, especially grocery bags. If only I could invent some kind of a gizmo that would rattle a few grocery bags by the tree 24/7. Maybe if I could tie a few to some sort of a post and set up a fan to blow on them... ... Or build a moat of plastic bags around the tree... Or just forget it. Ugh!

Christmas Trees

I have 3 Basset Hounds, Jewels, Helen and Maggie, who love to pull the ornaments off our tree. They also try their best to eat them, so I have to watch very, very carefully. I also have 3 cats, Zelda, GracieBell and Cosmo who love to climb into the tree to escape from the Bassett Hounds. Things are never quiet around here.
I agree that shelter pets are the best. All of my cats are from our shelter. We bought 1 of our Bassetts and the other 2 girls were rescues. Helen, our newest girl is blind and had been dumped onto the street. She is still very nervous, but joins us in bed along with her new sisters. I'll tell you, some people are so very cruel! I think they should be dumped out onto the street!

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL....

just too much....

what I would give to see the cat jump off or the tree fall over. LOL.

Greg, I never thought of preparing it that way?!
hmm, I wonder where McNuggets come from? felixnuggets?

I can't comment on wiener dogs, no really. ...but I know poodles will eat christmas cookie ornaments made by children and hung on a tree within standing-on-hind-leg reach. (I also will stand on my hind legs and beg for cookies!)

Bob, the cat web site clears the whole issue. If you have cats the tree should be viewed as a jungle gym for the cats. It actually looked like fun from a cats perspective.

crazyshit.com -someone started a website based on my life. lol. Just wondering if there is such a site?

You guys are the best!
