All Nice pots, yep i see the ORange mini brew basket in the first thread now. You sure have some nice coffeemakers thanks for sharing the pics. alr2903
That Corning pot is gorgeous! Tom and John in Maryland have quite a collection of Corning pieces and I only recently found out that Corning used to do a commemorative holiday (Christmas) piece every year that was offered to the employees and probably vendors, distributors, etc. but not available for the general public. John sent me a couple of these pieces last year and they are beautiful, I wonder if that coffee pot might have been one of those... Do you know any of the history of yours?
Here's a collector's guide on ebay for Corning Ware and Visions:
That spouted teapot with the handle is the exact pot that was pictured yesterday in my original Coffee Pot thread. Miss Manhattan was perched on the 'spout' of that teapot. Pictured below is the teapot. I also have the pot as the photo shows(in the above post) with the blue cornflower motif.
BTW...those teapots are so so heavy.......corning ware lid...very heavy to lift with boiling water inside...but a 'looker'(to coin a phrase from another post~!)
Both of these percolators take that 'special' Corning ware flat plug. The perk on the left is all white and has the glass see-thru lid. The perk on the right has yellow flowers and has a 'plastic' knob on top(discolored from many cycles of CAW-FEE. Notice the different signal lights too(round and square).
Oh yeah, and that perk to the very left will be featured in another thread(love that squiggle~!)
These two Corning pots take a regular plug(as in the Farberware). There are 'star' designs on the top by the light. The one on the left is just metal, the one on the right has a plastic overlay.
Traditional blue cornflower on the left....raised signal light over just metal....and that funny 'squiggle' pot on the right...the signal light hidden under plastic. Both take those 'regular' cords.
I had never heard of the recall. When I bought my current house just about a year and a half ago I was real antsy about the deal concluding so I told the survivors of the elderly couple that had lived here for forty years they could leave whatever they didn't want to take. There were at least seven
of the CW Electric percolaters in one of the kitchen cabinets!
Yes!! The one on the right is the one that I just received. The only difference is that mine is in about 30 shards!!! Thanks to another careless armchair entrepreneur "eBay seller"
It was great chatting with you last night. Please keep up the great pics...I'm enjoying them!!!
I will post a pic of the coffee percolator that we spoke of and hopefully you can identify it for me
This is the percolator that I was talking with you about. There is no name or any other identification on this perc. Has anyone seen this or know anything about it. It looks very much like a Cory carafe but it is a percolator. The unit stands 1 foot tall.
What's the best way to clean out a perc so it will work properly and how do you work the stove top percs? How much heat do you use? I'd like to get a glass perc and use it every now and then.
Interesting to see that recall press release. I like to use mine occasionally and will take my chances. It's a neat piece of Americana. I knew about the recall but didn't realize it was that long ago already. (!)
