So long ago.......

I love my Corning Ware percolators. I think they come a close second to the coffee from the Farberwares. Both brew consitently HOT and flavorful coffee. I never think of the handle separating from my Corning Ware perks.

Pictured is a Corning ware original plug with box, and, the 6 cup electric version with a 'snowflake' motif.

And some more varaitions on the Corning Ware electric....

The pot on the left has a black band around the top by the metal.

And the pot on the right has a fall theme complete with a cornucopia.

And more......

Pot on the left has those 'blue' birds(Amish), and the pot on the right has some type of 'grid' on the body and the metal band around the top is not shiny. It is like brushed stainless steel.

The pot on the left takes that special Corning cord, and the one on the right takes the standard cord.

There's a history of the Corning Glass Works that I've picked up and glanced through at Borders...it goes into some detail on their moves in the teens/twenties with Pyrex and the late 50s/early 60s into cookware. It also (as I recall) mentions the recall saying that it was really traumatic for the corporation but they felt they had to do it because they were so trusted and well-regarded.

most bizzare pot I've ever seen!

It is a pretty strange pot. I have a passion for bizarre coffee makers of all kinds and this is one of the more strange ones that I've found. Looks like the earliest Sunbeam vac pot from the 1930's yet it's a percolator?

Some one asked me if it was all original. I would have to say it is. I have owned two of these and they came from very seperate areas of the USA. The first one broke and I found the second one within a week or so (both on eBay). I had never seen one before and I havent seen one since. I hope that someone will see it and say "Oh....you have a _____ percolator"

Gary....love those Corning pots!

Wow Gare, I had no idea Corning made so many different patterns! I have the plain 'ol Cornflower stovetop perc, but that's the extent of my C'ware collection. Well actually it's not, but that's a whole 'nother thread.

One of these days I'd love to drop by for coffee and some gay cookies. I guess they'd be like, fruitcake bars?

Something is telling me that odd glass perc is by Inland Glass, but that's just a hunch. Haven't found it in any of my sources yet, but will continue searching.

And where would you find those goodies?

Perhaps the freshly baked section of your local grocery store?

Or, do they need to be refrigerated with the fresh meats?

Gary I love those Corning flower design coffee makers. Just beautiful. All toll how many Corning pots do you have? Terry

Stop it LOL...I see loads of these Corning coffee percs at the thrift stores around here, albeit the cornflower ones and I haven't picked one up yet.. in fact there were 2 at VV this a.m.. I can't support another collection.

How about a picture of the closet then? For a fleeting moment, I entertained the thought that you might only have four of these Corning pots and were just changing the designs like Colorforms! ;-)

You really have a great collection - thanks for taking the time to share them with us! My grandmother had something like 18 different coffee makers in the house when we were cleaning it out, little did I know there were people saving and collecting them! One of her favorites was the Corning drip models with the glass bowl on top of the oversized base, shaped like the teapots of the day. There was a black "plug" for the drip/brew basket - they must have made good coffee, she used them for years.

How about a picture of the closet then?

No pictures of my 'closet' but.....will this do????

Cannot find a date on the brochure? Help me in the closet!

And you never knew anyone collected these treasures and put them away in the closet????

The things you learn with a computer.........

don't the gay cookies live in the gay cookie jar? You kn

Just happened to photograph my 'pots' with the so-called gay cookie jar in the background. Someone picked up on it and I think now it has become Gadget's signature, along with other rainbow things that are stored in that 'proverbial' closet.
