And here's the latest addition to the fleet. A very old Kenmore percolator. Probably 40s. It's not automatic but it does work. I ran some dishwasher detergent through it and it perked just fine. YAY!

Beautyful Mirro Look, apparently they produced for Sears, too.
How well did the aluminum tolerate the dishwasher detergent ?
I recommend some silverpolish applyed with a vintage Sunbeam Mixmaster polishingpad for the outside care.

Percarbonate Bleach

Has been used to clean coffee pots for ages. In fact DipIt coffee pot cleaner is mainly oxygen bleach (sodium percarbonate).

I just use whatever oxygen bleach is on hand in the laundry room for cleaning my Sunbeam C50 and other coffee pots, as well as my coffee thermos. It is amazing how much gunk comes off even "clean" coffee pots and such.

Jason,

Sorry about misjudging the liquor. Happily have my own stash! *LOL*

I'll try some DipIt or Oxyclean in it next time. I didn't think to realize it was Aluminum so yeah, DW detergent isn't best. I'll straighten her out and get the Caw-fee flowing. I do have to say it is the QUIETEST cawfee pot I've ever seen. It hardly makes any noise while perking. Just a slight gurgling sound. Like I said, I don't think it's automatic. I let it run more than 8 minutes and it never shut off, so either it is manual or the shutoff doesn't work. No biggee, just start it, set the timer for a minute/cup and unplug it when time's up, just like with a Pyrex perc.

I have my Grandmother's Mirro which looks like a twin to yours. For being 55yrs. old it is very quiet too, and it makes 8 cups in 10 minutes.
