CBS Segment to air next Sunday

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support AutomaticWasher.org:

I finally got to see the segment. They did a good job on the piece but I kinda wish that they had Jon look at it before airing so that any mistakes could have been fixed before airing. That "Blackstone washer and dryer " kinda made me say ...what?! I should have not worn that shirt since my gawd I looked huge in the video as they say that video cameras add 10 pounds. The part where I was interviewed was good but in my head when it was being done, I didn't think anything of the camera until that little voice in my head said...hey you your going to be on national tv! Then it went downhill from there...lol

Sunday Morning

Hi,I Loved the piece, you guys did a great job.I was so excited to watch. Loved all those beautiful machines. Bob from New Jersey.

That was real CUTE! After watching this I had to go and cuddle someone. What a great story. Well done fellas!

Thank you.

Not only did I hear the Australian contingent get mention...

I also spied a box of Omo. If I'm not mistaken, its a perfume-free formulation?

Great work, everyone. Its lovely to see all the faces behind the regular posters here :)

OH yes washer111

I have tested a lot of detergents worldwide when I was developing Rosalie's Zero Suds.

I did have several boxes of OMO from my terrific Cuz up in Coff's Harbour.

Thank you bluejay for finding and posting that link, I couldn't find it!!

I was thinking on camera, I should have mentioned our UK contingent and our NE contingent.

Great job everyone, and my teenage daughter said **wow look there's TurquoiseDude, he loves Turquoise appliances** she was cute squeeling about you all...I loved everyone of those washers, beautiful. Congrats ..Cheryl

That was fantastic!!

Thanks so much for posting the link! Thanks to all who contributed as well. I had missed the show, though mom said she recorded it, I hadn't been over there to see it yet :)

Now I'm really looking forward to the first wash in I can attend :)

Guys,

This was wonderful, really wonderful :-)

I was watching it on my phone at work this morning whilst making my coffee and my workmate came and watched it with me and just "ok, i get it now!". After over a year of making a joke out of the fact I have made the laundry room at work 'my territory'. Above this segment really showed the fun and the true passion for what we do in a non judgemental and friendly light. A very special moment to treasure.

Thank-you for making it happen :-D

Matt.

Nice job!!

Nice to see some of the faces behind the AW user names. I don't know why I thought this was filmed in Philadelphia. When they said outside of Boston I was surprised.

HOORAY!

What a great segment! It would have been nice if it was more than 5 minutes, but then 5 minutes is better than nothing. It's really great they approached it from "human interest" perspective, rather than trying to make us look like a bunch of whack jobs. Now what the viewing public think however may be a different story, but I thought it was a wonder piece!

This was a fun segment, could have watched those machines going for the whole hour if they used all the footage they filmed. Meeting Bill and his crew as well as some new faces of our own group was a real treat. While Jon was busy with the crew, the rest of us had lots of time to sit and talk, and grow closer together as friends.

I wanted to extend a huge Thank You to Jon for hosting everyone and opening his home and life to the cameras. I'm sure we all agree that this fascination/hobby was well presented and a fine tribute to many who have been derided and laughed at for their unusual interests.

Thank you again, Jon! We're all very grateful and proud of your many contributions to the group.

I loved the "I thought it was just me comment"

I fall into that category as I know many of us do. If it wasn't for this group I'd probably still feel the same way. I'd be locked away in my house secretly playing with my dishwashers.

Kneeling before the Duomatic is perfectly appropriate while bowing over top loaders shows proper respect. When making obeisance to any machine, it is as important to look inside as it is to look at the controls. The order of the steps is not as important as the thoroughness of the adoration.

I came to work this morning, one of the girls said Do you ever watch CBS on sunday mornings? I said no. She said well there was a segment on there that made me think of you. I said Oh? She said yea, there's this group of guys that get together and watch their washing machines.. And they collect them....

I said, Oh, I wonder if that was AutomaticWasher. She's like, oh that website you always talk about? I said Yea. She's like well I dunno, but there was one guy that only collects turquoise machines and, (I interrupted and said, Oh, Turquoisedude) yea, and they showed this beautiful black pair that ... I said had the controls that looked like alarm clocks? The control tower frigidaires? She jumped, Yes, them!! Must be the same club!

I said I'd come on here and see if anything was posted with info about a segment. LOL.

The side effect of publicity.

Great piece on the group and some damn nice folks and machines as well. I do agree there will probably be a spike in ebay postings and some stupid asking prices, but after a while it will cool off again. The upside will be seen in the form of awareness. For years now I've watched idiot house flippers gutting out mostly original, if somewhat neglected, MCM and craftsman style homes with many vintage trappings including clean appliances going to ebay or the junkyard. Just recently I've seen the trend start going the other way. Now people are realizing that originality brings top dollar even if it takes a bit longer to sell. In our case, I think the result will be that a person with no interest in fixing Granny's old washer, dryer or fridge in the basement, may offer it up to a good home rather than just kicking it to the curb. I saw the same thing in the automotive world with that stupid "rat rod" fad. Decent cars that could have been restored , hot rodded or customized were butchered into so called "art cars" or undrivable rat rod travesties. Later, after realizing the wretched POS they'd created, the owners part them out or they became "yard art" to rot. I'm hopeful this wiil swing our way and be positive in the long run.

I'm still big; it's the washers that have gotten sma

Very happy to have been a part of this. Thank you Jon for inviting me to join the little rascals. For the first time in my life I'm proud to tell people that I'm part of a group that collects washing machines.

They still look at me funny, but, for many reasons, that's never going to change.
