CBS Segment to air next Sunday

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

toy washers

I was the same way!  I used to look at the Sears wish book, and they had a toy washer and dryer set...the washer had a handle on the side to make it wash and spin...I wanted it so bad..along with an easy bake oven!  Heck, I knew how to do laundry and load the dishwasher when I was 3 years old, and my sister who is 3 years older than I could not even turn the washer on!  I'm so glad I'm not the only nut job who watches videos of washers on Youtube!  But, we have come a long way...my marriage is recognized now.

Great job

What a great segment, my partner watches the show religiously and he enjoyed it. I believe he now understands my love for appliances a little better. Our wedding planner even forwarded the clip to us because he wants to incorporate washing machines into our wedding somehow.

I am so very thankful for this site and all of its great members!

Well well

I never thought our little segment could reach so deep into Applianceville as to bring up some of the same memories I had about toy washers, and Jimmyb your story about the new found support of your "washer-widow" as we like to call them is the second story I've heard about "washer-widow" support for the collector-in-house this week and its only Wednesday.

I have people I haven't seen in over a year coming up to me to congratulate me on the show. I guess it really did reach 6 million viewers!!!

Bill really did a super job with us, I wish Tom & Chuck & Robert could have been in the segment because they were there at the start too.

Thanks!

Watching this video again tonight brings some emotional moments for me. Allowing me to tear up a bit with pride of belonging to such a unique group. It is amazing to think we are part of this world wide "family" of washing machine collectors. we are now recorded for the 2nd time on television thanks to J. Charles. you need to post our first Boston episode in you famous lower level!

Jon you are such a natural in front of that camera, you are the bestest spoksman of this club. I have shared this CBS video with many friends & family,"there now you see I am not the only one" I say! LOL.

Thanks to you Jon Charles, John Lefever and Chuck Diel from the 1980's People magazine feature poping out of the dishwasher. Who knew! Most of all thanks to Robert Seeger for the greatest web sight, without none of this would be possible.

Thank you,Cheers to you, may the Tide always bring you back in the morning.

OMG it's amazing how many people I know that has said something to me about being in the video . My neighbors saw the segment and wanted to know how many washers and dryers are in my basement. I thought that was funny that they asked. Then I was at Walmart yesterday and I was in the detergent aisle and two people asked me if I was the guy that was on tv Sunday morning and my gawd the questions I got!

That's great, Mike! CBS Sunday Morning has a huge audience, so I'm not surprised by your detergent aisle encounter.

My sister and I have a lengthy phone conversation every Sunday, and she asked if I'd seen the program because "There was a story about guys who collect washers! I thought of you right away." I said, "Yeah, that was really interesting." 😉

Gary thank you for the comments !!

How nice to see you pop up here too ! Its been too long since we've seen whats happening in your basement !!

Yes Mike I am getting the same thing, people I haven't seen in over a year coming up to me asking all about the segment and yesterday I was just taking in the trash cans when someone stopped their car and yelled out how much they enjoyed the segment !!!

I was told the average Sunday viewing audience is 6 million so I guess we did reach out there !

Off Topic, FAO: Jon

Hey Jon

That photo was taken in the nose of a British Airways Boeing 747-400 when I was flying from London to Phoenix.  I have found these photos to show you how the windows are configured (the motorized shades are behind glass).

Note: it wasn't my seat; I was sitting on a "buddy" seat.  The footstool of every seat has its own additional seatbelt and can be used as a companion seat for dining etc. (cannot be used for takeoff / landing).

All the best

Mark

How much for a return flight from London to Sydney in one of these? $20,000? or more?

I always like the mystery of who will sit next to me on a flight. Are they going to be really big? Will they smell? Give me the flu? Or will they be HOT?

Last time I flew, I got talking to a lovely Irish person on the opposite side of the isle. As is customary, we had a lot of wine and conversation. I really enjoyed that flight.

I guess the buddy seat is for your personal assistant to feed you and give foot massages? During take off and landing they have to sit in cattle class.

$20,000

Or perhaps a lifetime of your Frequent-Flyer points...

I imagine if you had a Credit Card with the airline's FF program, paying a full-fare return (econony) might get you enough, but I have no clue.

It was really great to see such a positive presentation about the club. There are so many people that are interested in vintage products and this shows that we are really cool people.

I really enjoy visiting Yogi's wash in's.
