Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Yes, I believe that is exactly how it looks! I have a 58 Mobile Maid and a 59 Princess (SU60) with racks like this. The ones on your machine look great, but were the rack support pins replaced?? If so, how'd you do that??

I have noticed that some of these units have different
rack support configureation. It's hard to believe that the
"strip" styles would be substantial enough to support the racks empty, let alone filled with dishes!

This is not my machine. I took a photo of it at the 2005 Convention at Greg's house. Would love to see a photo of your 59 Princess... Is that the model with what I call the half moon dial on the front?

The Princess half-moon dial

Jim, here are a couple of pictures of the Princess. She's in bad shape - the cabinet frame is good and truly messed up (cut and the tub lid is gone). I waver between finding a welder who can firm up the cabinet frame and build me some kind of a lid and parting the machine out... If I get the dishwasher that I found in Michigan, the latter may be the more likely outcome!

This will kill you - I didn't even realize the machine needed a lid until I got it home! I called them back to ask if they had anything resembling the lid lying around, but alas no. The installer who put in the new F&P drawer dishwasher removed this GE...
As you can imagine, I have let the auctioneer handling this sale know that I would like pictures of this dishwasher AFTER removal before I make expensive shipping arrangements!

But Paul

If they just removed whole thing from the space that it was
installed in, was there any clue as to why they would have
removed the lid from the underside? (behind where the closing/
locking latch is) The whole thing should have slid out from
where ever it was installed. Did you make voodoo doll's of the F & P installer and the auctioneer and hold them over
a flame? I hope so!!!

One can never quite understand the thinking (or lack thereof) behind some appliance removals... IMO, the installer should have been able to slide the old unit out, but I fear that perhaps some other change (like adding ceramic tile to the original floor and 'burying' the dishwasher front may have forced the installer to use extreme measures...
Still waiting for word about the one in Michigan, believe it or not! And still keeping my fingers crossed!!

Ceramic Tile

We inherited a kitchen where tile was laid boxing in the diswasher...Installer, with our help, loosed screws on counter allowing for enough give to slide old one out and install new one.

PAUL - sorry to see such a beautiful machine ruined for you. They should give you your money back...

The Princess half-moon dial

There it is! We had this same dishwasher in our house when I was a kid. Same color too! It was in so many of the homes in my neighborhood. I have always wondered what year they were made.... Would love to see some close up's of the booklets on top of the cabinet.

Now,can you imagine a 7 year old boy wanting to get the dishes "really" clean and pouring a half of box of cascade, half a can of ajax, unknown amount of joy and anything else he could find under the kitchen sink into the bottom? Then wondering why Mother was running for towels... I remember her just giving up and saying just let it run as the suds went, cabinet high down the galley kitchen as my little brother was gearing up for a game of slip and slide.... She was so cool about it!
