I'm heading to North Canton

Hey Donnie,
Ordinarily I make Market days every year, but I'll miss it this year as I am heading for North Canton on Friday morning, to visit my friend Tom and do some junking.
Have fun!

Market days

This is the 2nd BIG event for Chicago's boystown every summer, the other bring the pride parade.
Market days is kinda like a big flea market/sidewalk sale. It happens on about a 2 block section of Halsted street thats closed to traffic. The clubs also have special events, and it can be a fun time.

in my opinion...

Market days are ok, but not really much more than a big, gay, outdoor flea market. Ok, sort of exciting, but it also depends one when you are there. One year it was so crowded you could hardly turn around without bumping into someone(not always bad either) but in heat and humidity like we've had this summer, even Chicago's hottest would wilt...

Don't worry I'll try not to wilt....

Well, it is true that it is usually hot and crowded, but so are most street fests in the city. I happen to like this one better then the Parade because people are moving around, and Sidetrack is serving slushies right on the street. IMHO Absolute pink lemonade is the best..
Yes we should plan some thing for next year, I'll a tour guide to the city.. and the best Laundromats..including my favorite one here on the NW side that has 2 Block Extractors, Wascomats in every size and Harvest gold SQ top loaders. They use to have 6 filter flows but thoes have been replaced with new SQ's last year.

Donnie, I think that would be a great idea. Sounds like a lot of fun. Keep us posted as to what treasures you find this year. Terry

Now that sounds like fun!

A tour of the city sounds great, I would imagine there is LOTS of treasure to be found all over!
I also know of a pretty nice used appliance dealer out here in the burbs, as well as where all the good junk stores are.
That could be a fun time!

Austin -
No, the gold SQ top loaders are pref tubs, but that do have an agitator similar to that of a solid tub machine.
I'll take some pictures when I go in the fall to wash the summer blankets.
Hoover, do you ever make into the city, or are you a burbs boy?

not just confined to the burbs

Donnie,
I get in the city every now and then, not so much as of late because I have been working alot of hours, and the friends I had that lived in the city(on Foster between Clark & Broadway)moved to San Diego.
I get to hit all the junk stores every now and again.
What about you? Ever get to the burbs?

I'm all over

Hoover,
I grew in Park Ridge, and that's where my parents still live. This is also one of my part time homes =) My other is with My BF in the city. He lives in Edgewater Beach near where your friends use to live.... but I'm pushing him (very suscessfully) for River North, Streeterville, or LP.

I'm all over

All over? Thats TMI Donnie!!! <just kidding really>
Edgewater is a nice area, and there are some good junk stores in that area.
I'm glad you're not from Lakeview!!
Park Ridge is nice too, and not too far away. Roselle is about 8 miles due west of Ohare, along Irving Park road.
Wish I had more washers, but I only have one. Lotsa Hoovers though!
