Chipmunk Killers!

I don't see them around here. Lots of squirrels, and hares, and a few hawks, and even a turkey vulture last month.
The occasional possum, or raccoon. The city will bring out traps if we need them, but they are always captured alive, and let loose further north, away from neighborhoods.

If I have to kill these critters my very high powered pellet guns do the trick quickly, quietly.Even had to dispatch a raccoon that way.I hate to kill chipmunks-their "cuteness" factor. But like other rodents they can be pests. If only the creatures would stay out of our homes adn stay in the GREAT OUTDOORS!Than they can get along.Don't see chipmunks my way-LOTS of squirrels, possums, raccoons. Many frogs lately from the rains. And sometimes snapping turtles.Saw a snake in the backyard while mowing-let him crawl away.Asked him to kill the mice!!

This trap is friggin awesome.  I haven't even had to top up the bait.  Don't even get my hands dirty.

I've seen lots of frogs around here.  Live accross the street from a lake.  That attracts them.  Don't think they will eat the chippees.

Brightens the morning to wake and find

And it was ONLY peanut butter on this.

Flowers-  Yes when pesky critters aren't eating them.

After some investigation, it appears this was a ventilation area.  When they added more dirt to build up the soil, they apparently just tried to cover over the vent.  You can tell there is getting to be a well traveled trail under here.

Well it's been over a week and no evidence of my "visitor".  I left a ball of peanut butter by an open window on a tissue, tissue was there peanut butter gone.  Found a lot of droppings that I cleaned up and have not seen any since.  Hope it's truly gone.

What are you going to do Matt?

You have an infestation.  It sounds like it's trap time.  That will be the ultimate test of whether anything is living in your house.

Don't work

My parents had them.

I was shocked to find how bad an infestation they had, last October.  They thought a simple plug in device would solve their problems, and left it at that.

I was having a good day, as it was.  I had redone the bait, for the first time, 2 days ago.   I honestly believe the ants are eating more of it than the chippees have a chance to.  Which is fine.

So, I had dug up that area where the hole was and put 2 bricks in the foundation.  I think that has helped.  I reset this right outside my back door, near the wall.  I came home today to a pleasant surprise.

Now of course the cement tomb I built, using old cinder blocks and an old drawer to cover the poison and trap-  it looks like both the mice and the chippees both spit on it daily.  I haven't caught a damn thing there.  Even the ants are like, "get real bozo."

Mowed the grass Tuesday, in addition to several other yard based things.  Didn't see, or hear, a chippee the whole time.

Funny thing; I also caught another mouse in a metal live catch type trap I bought in 2010.  Frankly, I wasn't even trying.  I had the trap sitting on the floor in the shed, planning to give it to the metal scrap collectors today because I haven't had much luck with it.  I wish I had taken pictures.  The collectors came today and I went to pick up the trap to throw it in the pile, and whats inside?  A live mouse.  lol. I opened the top, it quickly jumped out, I squashed it, and threw the trap away.

Sorry, I guess I got carried away.  It's my first time dealing with chippees.... and with Matt, and perhaps others, having a similar issue I wanted to be supportive.

But your right, we got the idea.
