Here's what some of my LED christmas lights look like on the house! They look great with the yellow incandescant candalabras in the windows, and the red/green lamps in the porch light! The cool thing about them is that you are only looking at about 20 wattts of power consumption among all those blue lights! I just LOVE the color of those lights!!!

Tomorrow, I'll do my candy-stripe trees, and I'll post a wide-angle view of the entire yard. I've also got a 4 foot tall christmas tree to put on the picnic table on the porch too!

Beautiful. I wasn't going to bother with lights this year but all the neighbors here in our "new" neighborhood are putting them up so I bit the bullet and got me some of those LED lights as well. The utility has an instant $5 rebate on all strings of 50 or more so I bought 4 boxes of 70 string lights that were on sale at the little hardware store for $8.99 plus another $5 off I got them for $3.99. Then to top it off she took another $5 off because each string was 70, she figure the extra 20 lights on each of the 4 strings was 80 more lights LOL so I paid even less. I wasn't about to argue with her. I ended up paying about $14 for 4 strings of 70 lights, best deal I've had in awhile.

Hey Stevie, looking good!

Petie: But I am NOT buying the inflatable Christmas carousel from Walmart..no no no

Think of the fun you can have blowing it
up. Save energy don't use the electric air pump!

Pete-ie, R U trying to convince us or convice U?
(runs for the hills)

Great deal Pete! I ended up having to foot the entire bill for these, although I did get a deal. These are normally $12 at Target, but I bought them at the end of last year, so I ended up paying only $6 for them.

I bet these would look awesome on one of those shiny alumnium-needle christmas trees!

I will tell you a funny story about an inflatable. It was my duty last year to put an inflatable snowman on the stage for the christmas show at church, and then plug him in. The tech up in the sound booth would then power up the outlet. Well, after I placed the deflated snowman up on the stage, I thought everything was fine. The tech hits the switch and he starts inflating...and once he makes it up to his full height, proceeds to turn over into the audience! Apparently, I had the rear foot of the fan sitting on a piece of plywood that I didn't see in the dark, and that was just enough to tip him out of balance!

Last night, I was driving from a friends house and saw several houses with these new LED lights on them. The color is so INTENSE! Very cool!

But I still long for my GE Merry Twinkle C-9 light strings...

You convinced us!

We went with the LED's this year, and they look great! I was a little concerned, because the bulbs are small-ish, and our house is set high up on the hill, but they are BRIGHT!

I noticed that Kmart had blue led's a couple of weeks ago... almost bought some, but I had already invested in white led's from OSH, as well as mixed colors from Costco. There is a limit - I already have a large collection of older (dim) LED's, as well as many strings of mini-bulb incandescents and even a string of clear C-7's.

However I suppose I could always swing by KMart and see if they have any blue's left. I do like that look.

Cool blue!

Your house looks great Steven! I've seen those LED's at the big box stores, and wondered what they looked like!

That was a hilarious story about the inflatables!! It's kind of like the Sta-Puft marshmallow man in "Ghostbusters"! Those things look really awful when you unplug them. They deflate into a big pile of unsightly nylon goo! I swore to my family that I will NEVER put inflatables up in our yard. We're going with C-9's (lots of 'em) and assorted miscellaneous tacky lighted Christmas decorations!

The evil side of me is dying to buy that big inflatable snow globe carousel and plop it smack in the center of my moms front yard. She'd have a fit, then we could have a big laff about it later.. LOL

Blue LED's at KMart

They do have the blue LED's at KMart. I was there this morning and bought multi colored LED's for the tree for $6.99/box of 50. The solid colors (red, blue, white) are only $5.99/box 50.

It's amazing to see the difference between the LED's and the old lights. Can't wait to put up the tree this weekend!

LED's

Heather...

I bought some LED's for the tree on today's trip to the grocery store. These particular ones are made by Westinghouse and were $6.98 for 35 lights (I bought two boxes). They have a crystalline appearance and are considerably smaller than a C-9 or C-7. It says they stay cool to the touch (a must when you have kiddos) and are supposed to last 20 years. I just hope Westinghouse lasts that long! LOL

I bought some LED lites from "Holiday Creations" I beleive the name is-from Lowes-and they have two LEDS in each "Bulb" and they fade from blue to yellow and back.Pretty cool.It seems the most common LED lights are Phillips (Target) and The Holiday Creations" ones from Lowes. Now I will wait until afgter Christmas where you can get the LED lights or other Christmas equipment for the lower prices.
