Pulsator, thanks for your kind comments. The spin is quite something in real life too! Work on this machine is now well underway and I hope to have it up and running properly within the fortnight.
Newwave, hi! So far I haven't managed to send this one off balance. I'm scared to set her up deliberatlely with, say a bath mat or something, as the old rust bucket will probably just fall to pieces lol. I have a feeling that because this machine is a `three leg suspension' model it's more sturdy than most other Hotpoints which had two - this could be partly what caused the jumping you spoke of. BTW, Andy Trigg on the `washerhelp' sight said he'd seen instances of Hotpoints whose motors had punched a hole in the top right of the cabinet on severely OB loads!! Hope you're keeping well Newwave. BTW There is a great condition Newwave on ebay for £1 in Kent - a 1400!
I was working on the machine today fitting a new dispenser pipe to the outer drum. I was sanding the area to connect the new pipe to and then something I didn't even predict happened - I dropped the sand paper into the gap between the inner and outer drum! I had the sump off, the heater off, the Hoover out......but I had to give up getting this sand paper out. I'll have to run some boil washes, soaks, get it to disintegrate then clear it all out the sump I guess. What a pain in the ****.
Regards to all
Nick
