Hey guys, I had a real nightmare recently when a guest loaded the dishwasher ('85 Thermador THD 3600) and managed to mingle regular hand washing dish soap in with the dishwasher detergent. Every glass had a cloudy film that had to be scrubbed off. I ran a bleach & vinegar treatment through the machine and the subsequent load came out sparkling again. I thought had rectified the situation.

Well, I just unloaded the dishwasher and noticed some film again but not on everything, and this time even some plates and bowls had it, and not everything came out clean either. Both detergent cups opened and the rinse aid dispenser is working, because two wine goblets turned out fine.

I'd like to hear from some experts on what might be wrong. I love this dishwasher and want to have it performing at its best. I'm really disappointed in this latest load.

I'm not doing anything different from when I first started using this machine. Finish/Electrasol powder and Jet Dry liquid for rinse aid, and up until now the Thermador's performance has been phenomenal.

Thanks for any suggestions,

Ralph

When will this film be over with

Just recently, brand new boxes of Electrosol Finish are phosphate free, that could be the problem. Cascade Complete all in one pacs work best for me.So far, they still have phosphates.

Also, you could run an empty machine with Tang, with lemonade powder, (unsweetened would be best ) or with one of those newfangled DW cleaners, that should do it.

Thanks guys. It's weird that the next load I did--after that disastrous one--came out fine, but now this latest one had issues. I do have Finish "Glass Magic" which I think is similar to Lemishine, and used some of that to try and fix things after I first noticed the problem, but haven't used it since. It's not a dishwasher cleaner as much as a glass sparkler, so maybe it's not the right thing. Bleach and vinegar worked great when I first started using this machine and wanted to clean up all the gunk that it may have had from sitting for so long.

It is the Finish

Get Cascade and you will not have any more problems. I had this same thing happen when I switched to Finish/Electrosol it made everything cloudy! When I switched back to Cascade, it stopped. Use the powder by the way and not the liquid version.
