OK, I had three recipies I kept a secret, the first was my chocolate pound cake, this soup is the 2nd.
The 3rd is my spaghetti sauce, and since I need to make that too I may yet post its recipie.

This soup is my own creation, born out of being tired of Campbells and Mrs. Grass, I wanted something hearty. Here's what I came up with:

2 large cans Swanson Chicken broth
1 small can broth
1 small container chicken stock
juice of 1/2 lemon
1 bunch of celery
2-3 pounds carrots
1/4 cup parsley flakes
1 medium onion(tennis ball size)
any other veggies you like in soup. Today I am adding a yellow squash and a zucchini.
1 box pasta(any style) cooked according to package directions.
 
start by...

I make this in my crock pot. I start it late morning and let it cook all day. It can also be assembled on the stove in a large stock pot in about an hour.
Today I am using my crock pot. It was 11:30 am when I started, and I want to serve this about 6pm.

Pour the large cans of broth into the pot. Turn the pot onto HIGH.
Peel and wash the carrots and celery. Then slice them. I use my food processor which does it lightening fast
Empty the carrots and celery into the pot.

(Has the man who invented the Food processor been given a Nobel Prize yet?)
 
now for the stock

fit the processor with its blade, and pour in about 1/2 a container of stock.
Peel and quarter the onion and toss it in the processor. Run the processor until the onion is liquified.
Add this to the pot, and the rest of the stock from the container
 
Now add

the lemon juice, the small can of broth, and the parsley.
Stir it all up good, put the cover on and let it cook all afternoon on HIGH.

Toggles dear:
the large cans are 49 1/2 oz
small broth is 14 oz
stock container is 8 oz
 
more cleanup

Processor and stuff goes in the Kitchenaid...

I have been lucky enough to taste Jeff's wonderful chicken soup and I can assure you all it is fantastic. So so good on a chilly day. Terry
 
I love chicken soup, but I especially love your classic Cuisinart food processor. It is the best machine for kneading dough. I have a recipe for bread that uses 9 cups of flour---handled the dough with no problem. I had it for years and the plastic parts eventually cracked, split and chipped so much I had to hold the bowl down on the motor housing and the safety mechanism wouldn't work.

To replace it, I bought the highly touted KitchenAid, and while I love it for chopping, etc., it just doesn't have the oomph to handle bread recipes with more than 3-1/2 cups flour.

Then I bought the new curvy Cuisinart (the one with the useless dough setting). It will handle dough recipes with up to 6 cups of flour, but it strains to do so.

Now I wish I'd just replaced the bowl and cover mechanisms and kept my classic Cuisinart. It didn't seem worth the cost at the time; after all, the motor was about 15 years old and I figured it would be better just to get a new one. WRONG!
 
2 to 3 lbs of carrots in chicken soup?..i think i love you!! LOL. Any soup i make, i have to have tons of carrots in it..whether it be chicken, veggie, pea, bean ..blah..blah.

Also the use of campbells chicken broth or Swanson.. (same company) is all i will use for a canned broth. College Inn is some of the most disgusting s--- on the market. If you can't make it yo-self..hit Campbells.

I've been tempted to throw a clove of garlic in and see what happens...
The lemon gives it a nice twang too.
I forgot to mention that I usually add 2 packages frozen cooked, diced chicken meat to this as well.
This batch I didn't...

Frigilux: I bought that Cuisinart at a local thrift store maybe 5 years ago... I paid a whopping $20 for it, and its complete with 2 disks, 2 blades, and the cookbooks(one of them is "Abby Mandel's Cuisinart Classroom") Its only flaw is some tape in the cord where it enters the machine. I use it alot, for making soup, escallopped potatoes, chopping, making bread crumbs, and yes bread too. It does ok with bread, and does not make the mess a Kitchenaid mixer will.
I'm very pleased with it. I'd have paid full price for it too!

Also on the menu is a lettuce salad, and I have a bottle of Reisling wine...
