Coldspot Bottom Mount

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Nice fridge.  Mid '60s vintage so it's likely a hog, but by that time WP had improved the defrost drainage system by eliminating the problematic heated channels in the floor of the freezer.

Bottom Freezer

The worst part about this layout is you practically have to lay on the floor to get into the freezer.

It is a beautiful unit thought! I love coppertone!

Looks very much like the...

......TOP mount Coldspot 18 my parents bought in 1967 or 1968. Our didn't have the ice maker, though. It was also coppertone. It lasted until 1987 when repeated defrost drain clogs did it in. It also opened the wrong way for the kitchen design (mainly because it was purchased before the house was....)and the doors did not reverse.
I don't remember what ours said in the top black strip (the one pictured says "Automatic Ice Maker").
Other than that, the "badge" looks identical.
Memories!

IIRC my mom's '75 Coldspot had a similar badge but not as fancy.  The top black portion read "COLDSPOT" in all caps and the bottom was sliver with "Frostless" in cursive.  Hers was a near BOL SxS that didn't include the optional ice maker, but it did have the forced draft condenser for a clean back that could go against the wall.

I prefer a bottom mount freezer.  I'm accessing the refrigerator far more often than the freezer and I really don't like stooping down for everything.

We had a very similar model, my first frig. as a kid.  My parents got it at the Sears warehouse circa 1967.

The handles toward where the two doors meet flared in on an angle.  Ours was white but the inside looked just the same with that green control knob.  We had the ice maker too.  In fact it was the fact that the ice weren't freezing that told my parents there was a problem.  &#92

It was about 1976 when they bought a top mount, harvest gold frigidaire with no icemaker.
