My very old washer pooped out and needs to be replaced. I have posted about it and think it can't be fixed.

I don't have a lot of faith that the new models are as robust as the older ones. I am also leery of the high tech panels. While looking around for washers I found there are commercial grade washers for residences at least according to the marketing claims. Are they really more rugged and reliable? They go in the price range of $780 to $850. They do not have a coin option and seem to have simple controls. I know some outdoor power equipment list their products as commercial grade and it is just marketing hype. Is it the same for washers or are some really commercial grade? I have listed two below but assume there are more. If they are commercial grade how would they compare to a regular top loading washer in the price range of $550 to $700? Regardless of any comparison are they really commercial grade?

I would say both machines are pretty much the same, as both are made by Whirlpool.

This is only my opinion.... but personally I think these "commercial grade" machines for "home use" is just marketing BS. Sure they may have stainless steel tubs and an industrial looking control panel, but I would also bet the important bits underneath where it counts, are exactly the same as the normal "residential" machines.

OR... maybe it's just because they have what looks like a "regular" agitator and it can fill with a tub full of water??? Who know for sure. I'm sure someone else will chime in about them.

Well, even if the machine isn't different per se, there are things to consider.

First, the UI entirely different and may suit you better.
Or entirely not.
Just look at the machines in question and ask yourself If cycle selection makes sense or offers nothing for you.

Second, just cost wise: These machines should have a 3 year warranty by factory.
So, it might be just cheaper then buying the normal consumer model with an extended service plan.

There is a comparison Video on YT showing that some commonly failing parts are different (mainly, mode shifter).

Really all up to the deals you can get.

The Maytag is better than the residential style

Off the top of my head the mvwp575gw has a thicker belt, and a larger drive motor. I can’t confirm or deny that any of the other parts are better, but I can say they are different part numbers and are more expensive.

The Maytag comes with 5 years of factory warranty

Have it right, The Mt Commercial TL washer in addition to what Eugene said has better main seal and mode shiftier + a five year P&L warranty, The commercial WP is a smaller tub and only has a 1 year warranty.

As Nick stated the SQ FL washer is the best washer you can buy in the US PERIOD if you are concerned about reliability, no nonsense performance and very long life in the range of 25-50 years.

Nationally SQ has run out of the separate FL washer but still has the stack, here in the DC area there are still three SQ FL washers in the main warehouse as of Thursday.
