I found this big beautiful baby about an hour from me. it’s coin-operated and one of two. I’m struggling to date them as I’ve never seen this model before. Although it’s the commercial version of the home slant front, I’m wondering whether this was a precursor to the cool style of the Westinghouse slant front.
I’m also hoping by posting this thread that to someone knows where I can find a slant front dryer. I believe the model number is D3.

Also, if anyone could tell me anything and everything about this model, I would very much appreciate the information. I hope you enjoy the pics.

Westinghouse bolt down commercial washers

Hi Matt, yay I’m glad somebody saved these machines that Keven was selling, I’m not sure exactly how old these are. They were made throughout the 50s into the early 60s. These are not the newest model. They had a different door design on the 60s models

With a little detective work, you can find code dates on timers and water valves, etc. when you dig into the machines, do you know if these machines have a transmission in them or is it the newer design that has three belts?

They never made a matching dryer as such but Westinghouse did build slant front dryers. In fact all their dryers were the slant front design through 1963 except for a compact model that matches the yellow washer that’s in the back of your picture.

These bolt down commercial models are fun. They share many parts with the non-bolt down machines. The only bad thing about the boat down ones is that they don’t spin as fast as the suspended models, my brother has one of these bolt machines here in Maryland.

I noticed on your profile listing you have two 1965 Kenmore combos have you gotten those to work? Those are really cool machines are yours gas or electric.

When I was a kid, before coin ops were growing. We used to have these neighborhood "Snow White Westinghouse laundries". Staffed by ladies in white uniforms that did your laundry, washed in those same washers, spun in the extractor dried in big Cissal gas driers and folded. Soon after the cheaper coin ops were more prevalent and Snow White closed.

Wow, I’m glad someone saved these

And speaking of book extractors I own one that came from probably a former wasting house laundry, needs a bit of work but my god I would love to see those machines in person

Hello all, thanks for all your comments! Sorry I haven’t responded, I’ve been preparing for a trip.

And, it’s to get a slant front Westy dryer and a Food-a-Rama!

Hey John, once I get back, I’ll look into answer, answering your questions by looking under their hood.

From what I found so far, these are likely from the late 40s early 50s.

Also, by the comments, it looks like I might need to find an extractor to go with it!

Thanks, Matt
