I have a Commercial FL machine and I was wondering if there are any types of Commercial powder that I could purchase without having to sign a contract with some company to buy their products. What I'm looking for is a powder solution for cleaning things like white linens(nothing with color). My commercial FL is Primus brand and it is older so it is not operated by VFD. It tumbles as it fills on all cycles except for the delicates cycle. For Whites I normally use the Whites cycle in which consists of warm 4 minute prewash, then 1 minute extract, then 12 minute hot wash, then 4 minute cold rinse, then 1 minute extract, then 4 minute cold rinse, then 1 minute extract, then 4 minute cold final rinse, then 3 minute final extract. I'm trying to get the most out of this machine. Can any of you wash experts point me in the right direction?

Persil, Persil, and Persil

Many small and large commercial laundries use Persil, both the UK and EU (Unilever and Henkel) versions, just as Tide is also used commercially.

Other than that one can scour eBay and other places for the odd stock of commercial washing powders marked "low suds".

One problem you may have is adjusting the dosage down for such a small (compared to 35lb and larger commercial units), washing machine.

On Second Thought

With such short wash cycles, you may wish to go for American detergents designed to "hit and run" so to speak.

Tide is probably one of the most widely used detergents for commercial and domestic use. Tide does have a new commercial line called "Pro Series" designed for use in hotels, and other commercial laundries that process mainly flatwork/linen. Have tried the "In Wash Stain Remover", which the MSDS says is the same as "Tide With Bleach" and "Tide HE", with very good results.

Sears powder comes to mind. Its non sudsing. Also try HESCO vacuum cleaner supply. They sell ALL and their own low-sudsing formula in huge pails.

Try Gordon Food Service; there is one on Dixie Hwy. Fairfield and one at Fields Ertel - Mason Montgomery Rd. which may be handy to you. I've seen institutional Tide and also All in there. If they don't have what you're looking for in stock, they can order it. Other places to check would be J&S Soap in Price Hill, Hillside in Avondale, or Phillips Supply downtown.
