Cook fishes in your... dishwasher?

well, why not

It makes perfect sense to me to rinse spinach in the dishwasher. Put in a net bag and run through the "Vorspülen" it comes out sand and grit free.
But I have also had guests say no thanks.
What silliness!
I bet anything you like - your sink is not nearly as germ free as the inside of your chlorine bleached and 70° water washed dishwasher.
I have tried the cooking on the manifold trick with well wrapped foods. It worked, though it is really more something for foods which take a lot of time to cook - and are tolerant of "overcooking".
Fish in the dishwasher, hmm...I imagine it would be possible, but why? Now, "omelettes" in a plastic bag sure do work and have perked up the otherwise boring camping breakfast without the usual dirty skillet and burned finger nonsense.
Wasn't there an episode of Picket Fences where the hysterically clean housewife kills herself in the dishwasher?
Yes, Americans do dip toast in their eggs. What a pity that breakfast (grilled tomatoes, grilled kippers, grilled oatmeal (just kidding) is the hight of UK cooking.

thought id tell you about it. Its mainly pigs blood, mixed with oats and chunks of pig fat inside a sausage casing. Officially from Bury in Lancashire but other regions have a recipe. Its also found in Scotland. Now you see why those who eat it are freaks. Yuk yuk yuk Nick

Nothing worse than that. Well, actually, there is. One of the worst aspects of the Anglo-/Amerikanisierung of the German language is the tendency to call foods with similar sounding German names by their English cognates.
Pfannküchen - a wonderful, if sweet and greasy, German dish has nothing in common with Pancakes.
Zilch. Nada. Null. Nix.
So when people (idiots in the morning like me) see it on the menu, they order it expecting light, fluffy, dry (not soggy) pancakes. They get the American recipie alright - but boiled in greasy fat until they are soaked with it.
Sigh.
Black pudding? Well, I have Scottish relatives who maintain there is a very good reason why you pass the whiskey around the table before you serve the haggis...and I think they are right. You need to be drunk, very drunk first.
Of course - anybody looked at the contents of American Hot Dogs lately?
On topic: Another use for dishwashers - when I have spilled coffee on my mouse and keyboard (again) I pull the electrical/electronic innards, put the rest in the dishwasher at 45° and things get clean. Even all those nasty little nooks and crannies.

i've always wanted to try cooking some things in the dishwasher. i say why not...if it's wrapped up and the machine's empty. it definitely gets hot enough in there.

something i have tried doing is cooking on my car engine. i have a 2002 dodge stratus and it didn't work very well. the engine's got alot of non conductive plastic parts on it and the hot manifolds are too out of reach. all i managed to do was thaw some frozen pizza, and there were still cold spots on a 1.5hr drive back to school....so i can't do that.

when we get our new Roper dishwasher at our apartment, maybe i'll try it...especially since we don't pay for our water.

Salmon Cooks Beautifully!!

I was helping my partner prepare a family celebration meal for his mothers 70th birthday last year....mum had treated herself to a brand new kitchen that year so was a joy to work in until I heard a shriek from said partner..."the cooker isnt working""...X*X****!!!!...

Two full salmon needed to be steamed, like NOW!!!, now what do we do...well anyone to the rescue..or rather "Hoover"..

I`d had seen a demonstration by a Siemens saleslady years ago do exactly that"Cook The Salmon In A Dishwasher"...
so here`s the recipe...

Take one "Hoover" dishwasher with 70d pot wash programme, (Needs to be manual control)
Run through one hot wash cycle, no detergent, and stop before pumpout, now full of steam ...
Take Salmon place on cooking foil, season, sprinkle with white wine, wrap foil around firmly, no more than one wrap.
Place on top tray and select Intensive Wash cycle, (will use the heated water and run cycle again, it took about 30 mins to complete the wash cycle on this machine, which wasnt enough so in it went again and "Thank God It Worked "

It helped that the dishwasher was "Old Design" manual control, intensive hot wash & heater exposed in the bottom of tub...

any redeeming value in this. Ranges, ovens, grills, etc. do their job so beautifully. The idea of cooking on a car engine just doesn't appeal to me. We all know the things that go with cars-gasoline, motor oil, exhaust fumes. Makes for a bad mix in my opinion. And, I'm no expert, but is it even SAFE?

...for an healthy and juicy fish recipe on your dishwasher don't forget to add salt (that can be done just leaving the salt dispenser cover opened) and lemon juice or winegar in the rinse aid dispenser... It's also very important to choose the right wash cycle. If you want it "well done" you may want to choose the "super scrubbing 65°C cycle". For brown crust don't forget to use the "extra drying" feature!

Use it as a large punch bowl for mixing that special mixed drink en mass.

Brownies mixed using the delicates cycle.

Are publishers these days so desperate they would propose something like this or is the next generation so screwed that a thinning of the herd is in order.
